Luke to do TOTO songs with Ringo & All Starr Band

Will be pretty cool to hear Richard Page tackle the lead vox on these songs. That said, Lukather seems to keep re-defining when these songs can and cannot be played. On several occasions, he's played TOTO material outside of the band, which originally he was against. Most recently, during the "Rock meets Classic" tour, and now this. He is a founding member and played on all the albums, but if the shoe were on the other foot, you know he'd be mercilessly and publicly tearing into Bobby or Fergie for pulling something similar. Anything that keeps the music alive is OK by me, but don't tell me that playing TOTO songs with Ringo's glorified Vegas lounge act doesn't cheapen the TOTO brand. C'mon now. Anyone else smell the hypocrisy?

TNC - I like you dude, but this endless seeking of "justice" for BK is getting old.

Ringo's band is hardly a Vegas lounge act. It is an honor to be selected to perform with him.
And why should't Steve perform whatever the hell he likes? At least he sang those tunes originally and wrote them. Bobby sings Toto tracks he had nothing to do with which is alittle odd. And don't you think he was emoved from the band for good reason? And he's never said anything bad about FF, so not sure why mention him.

He's doing his own thing, so that's good and I don't think we need to take shots at Steve for doing his thing. He has toured on his own doing his material so now if the demand for him is there to do Toto tracks in variou sprojects, then good for him!

And he's STILL in Toto touring there also, so I just don't see what the point is here.

A couple of quick points....

1) I have no idea why Bobby was thrown out. I thought the group disbanded 'cuz Luke was tired of playing "Hold the Line", or so he claimed.

2) Luke HAS criticized Fergie in the past for riding on the coattails of the Toto legacy and songbook.

3) Luke's a great guitarist. No doubt. But why should he get a pass on this? He's as egomaniacal as Schon, and his endless self-rationalization in the face of stark hypocrisy should be called out. Steve's been very vocal (and malicious) about not cheapening the legacy. During the "Rock Meets Classic" tour, they had some random bald guy hitting the high notes. Who the fuck was that? That is way more offensive, if not worse, than Bobby covering "I'll Be Over You". Luke has also turned TOTO into the very thing he once claimed to despise: a money making nostalgia act with zero interest in being creative. I don't care who sings or plays what TOTO song.

4) This forum is boring as fuck. Somebody should try to mix it up, even if they know their argument is mostly pot-stirring BS. :P
