YOSO Kaput

Well that was the most short-lived "supergroup" I've seen in awhile (second to only Neal's ego wankfest, SoulSirkus).
According to Bobby over on TOTONetwork:

"I left YOSO months ago....I'm no longer with Yoso, because there were many problems there, which I don't even care to discuss...Let's just suffice it to say, I strongly felt the need to leave that band, so now I'm in a much better place. I have no arguments with any of those guys, and I hope they're doing fine, but I'm glad to be away from that situation."

And just under a month ago, Bobby was saying he was having more fun with YOSO than TOTO. He even said they had a second album done and in the can. The whole enterprise began to unravel as soon as they lost YES guitarist, Johnny Haun. Guess we should've seen this coming. The official YOSO Facebook page mentions that Bobby is preoccupied as "TOTO is reforming", but I HIGHLY doubt that. All in all, what a waste, huh? :?

Very strange...most of the material was decent, but I honestly haven't had the desire to check it out again since the first time I played it.

It's very hard in this musical landscape to launch a new AOR act, even with the combined cache of YES and TOTO. Many YOSO touring dates were cancelled due to low ticket sales. Management can try their damndest, but Sherwood & Kimball are not exactly big names. Hopefully, Bobby will fare better touring with Jimi Jamison in Europe.

Wow. Dramaz!

Too bad...i was hoping to see them live sometime. I enjoyed the album for what it was...found it catchier and more memorable than any of Sherwood's Circa stuff, and a setlist full of Yes and Toto tunes (even if they're basically a cover band) would've been a fun night out.

A strange undertaking indeed. The live album that came with their studio record was weird as well, with audience overdubs as if it were recorded in a huge arena. How peculiar that the DVD version had no shots of the audience... I suppose there was a strategy behind it: leave an impression that YOSO was a big thing to persuade people to check them out. Didn't work out though. Playing for 50 people in 1,500 capacity clubs must have been embarrassing.
