According to the Wiki page, Molino is on some of the album tracks, with Jay Schellen on others.

Sounds good...my question is, if Tony Kaye is on keyboards, just what exactly does Bobby think he is playing?

I know some, Luke included, will prolly accuse Bobby of cashing in on the TOTO legacy, but with the group disbanded, I'd more than happily pay to see these guys play.
The new material is very promising, and the YES and TOTO renditions are serviceable, if not better.

The band sounds good but one thing really bothered me. With two keyboard players- one being the great Tony Kaye- why on earth is the guitarist playing the keyboard solo on Africa? Fucking stupid. There are enough guitar solos-- I mean how many keyboard solos in any band per song per night- are there...? A mere handful? What's next- Roundabout (which Kaye wasn't on) and the guitarist plays the Hammond solo too? Let the keyboards do what they are supposed to!

"Owner Of A Lonely Heart"....was kinda hoping Bobby would sing this one, since it would've been a pretty good song for him. He couldn't sing it like Jon, but I think he could've done a great interpretation of it.

And "Good For You"....nice version, although still not impressed with Molino's playing...he's a totally competent studio guy, but it sounds like a MIDI sequenced version of Porcaro's drum parts. Like Jimmy Haun though, he's a great choice to do the Rabin and Lukather guitar work.

Yeah, i'm surprised too, maybe he wasn't feeling this gig (but then we're just hearing the covers so far)...definitely thought 'Goodbye Girl' was rather lifeless.

Official MySpace page has two new tracks up.
Both tracks start out with a TOTO-ish jazzy "Jake to the Bone" vibe, but then quickly become standard-issue AOR fare.
Sounds alot like some of Bobby's solo stuff actually.

Just watched the 4 videos put up on the Yoso MySpace site from their upcoming DVD. Sorry, but it's just not very good. When doing Yes or Toto, they sound like a cover band trying to sound like the original but not quite pulling it off. Jimmy Haun is just not good enough to pull off Howe or Lukather and his tone just plain sucks. Doing Roundabout even though Kaye wasn't in Yes for that seems whorish and of course, he's no Wakeman. Billy is a good bass guitarist and vocalist and Bobby sounds decent but they really need to leave the old band tribute material behind and focus on original material.

If Circa and Bobby are going to be out there milking the respective legacies of TOTO and YES, they might as well pool their nostalgia cachet together.
The association of those two groups gives YOSO a brand recognition they can't possibly attain as a new band starting out, especially given the current musical landscape.
Taking that into account, I think it makes ALOT of sense.
Is there a legit case to be made that they are somehow cheapening the legacy or, in Steve Perry speak,"cracking the stone"?
Eh, barely.
Last I looked, YES is touring with a YouTube Karaoke singer and TOTO doesn't even exist anymore.

I don't think it's the worst idea for a band, but the vocals are just killing me....it's like watching a 2005 Journey concert. At least stop using Kimball tapes and get a guitarist or extra member who can sing (I'm sure Tony Spinner is looking for work) and do it all 100% live.

Yea, but even with Spinner, the use of backing tracks in TOTO was soo blatant.
At this point, I'm more interested in YOSO the album, than the "semi-live" concert experience.

I only watched a few Yoso songs so far, but I don't know how it can get worse than the backing tracks Toto used... that Bottom of Your Soul on FIB Live is simply almost unwatchable for me because that's really the highlight of the song (well, that and Luke and Greg trading licks in the solo section). They didn't even try and vary the tapes up from the studio version, which was what really made it annoying me for me.

I'll give you that one....if it hadn't been the single I don't even know if it would've been worth performing live. Definitely one of Toto's better songs, but clearly a studio creation.

Yeah, it was/is a hell of a song. It's not like the success of the single was going to be contingent on their performing it live anyway. Any success at all woulda been a bonus in their eyes, I'm sure.

It wasn't even just the vocals....the layers of percussion, extra atmospheric keys, the Shenkar vocals, etc...it wasn't really designed to be a live performance piece, but I suppose they had to play it to plug the album, as it was the most immediate song on there. It was what it was....I enjoyed hearing it at the shows I saw since it's an amazing song, even if it took a little too much technology to pull off.

You're right... the very first time I ever heard it, I said to myself about 1:30 in, "There's no way they can pull this off live." Just a lot of crazy stuff going on

UPDATE - YOSO is on hold. The guitarist, Jimmy Haun, is out, as well as the most recent drummer, Jody Cortez.
In the meantime, Bobby will be recording a duet cd with Jimi Jamison for Frontiers

He's one of the original members and if they are truly honoring Mike Porcaro, it would make sense for Bobby to be there.

Billy Sherwood makes it sound like the band is still forging ahead and will be on tour very shortly. Haun was already familiar with the YES catalogue. Whoever they get to replace him better be a quick study. Wonder what Josh Ramos is up to these days?

Not much of a delay, if any. The album's summer release and tour dates are moving ahead as planned. Replacement musicians have already been chosen and are from (what else?) a YES cover band.
