Toto website messageboard?

Postby scoopyx » Sun Aug 13, 2006 10:21 pm

G'day.
Does anyone know what's happened to the forums on the toto99 website?

And can anyone confirm that this studio http://www.seedyunderbelly.com/ is actually Jeff Porcaro's former house/studio?

Thanx.

There's a forum at the TotoNetwork, as said. Bobby posts fairly frequently, Greg and Mike occasionally as well. Unfortunately the forum itself is a total mess, I don't know why they didn't use a similar setup to this form (or the old Toto99 forum for that matter). Hopefully they'll change it at some point.

brandonpfn - I found out about it by messing around on Google.
I knew Jeff had his own studio, and had heard it called his home studio before.
Googling that general type of thing brought up a couple of results where people who had recorded there mentioned that it had been his place.
There is a studio of the same name, owned by John Kuker, in Minneapolis (I think), but the one I posted is in California, around the general area that Jeff lived.
So I thought, well, maybe.....

WalrusOct9 - I'm aware of the TotoNetwork forum, and I agree that it's a bit of a mess. There was lots of good stuff on the Toto99 boards, and I went there looking for info about the above subject only to discover that the boards had disappeared.

Hi there,

we have offered our former forum (software, database, etc.) to the company who is running the TOTO Network, so far they haven´t used it....

That´s right.

toto99.com will remain the official Website of the band for news, release information, concert reviews, etc.
Basically except of some interactive and multimedia content, everything else stays on toto99.com.

The totonetwork.com is more an interactive platform for the fans to communicate with each other and with the band. Totonetwork.com will also have additional premium content soon to which the fans can subcribe with a monthly fee and/or with some kind of "on demand" fee...

More details will be announced on toto99.com as soon as we get them (totonetwork.com is maintained by a third party company in the US)

Best regards

Wow, I had no idea that it was run by different people. That's really...weird.

(I didn't mean any insult when I said the TotoNetwork forum was a mess...I just don't think the actual forum software/design isn't particularly easy to read or follow discussions in, compared to ones like this or the old 99 forum)

You don't isnult anyone "Toto99" is infact the webmaster of toto99.com he's name is Mark and is very cool and nice! I don't think the people that runs Totonetwork know this site excists.

But I do agree the forum at the Totonetwork is hard to follow the old one was far much better much easy to understand!

Well, you could have noticed that just by the fact that the layouts and everything is pretty different.... :-))

Well, the people who are running the TOTO Network are pretty much aware of the fact that they have to improve the interface to make it easier to navigate and to find stuff... however, so far it´s still in a Beta status so stay patient, I hope that some things will change soon.

The toto99.com staff has certainly given many suggestions regarding layout and interface and usability to the company who is running the TOTO Network and we hope that these ideas will be realized time after time...

Haha, thanks for the nice words :-)

We certainly know that the TOTO Network exists as both places are official and the network people certainly knew about toto99.com even before they ever started the totonetwork.
In fact, the team of toto99.com was informed and involved at a very early stage about the plans the band has with the network and we have plans to link and combine both places as close as possible in the future, however, both sites will remain seperated sites done be different people.

As I said, toto99.com is the official Website of the band, totonetwork.com is less a website and more an interactive/multimedia portal...

one of the reasons is that the old forum on toto99.com was "just" a forum. The TOTO Network now has a forum, multimedia content and personal blogs for every member of the network including the band members. So there´s a lot of activity on the network already and the people on charge now have to find a way to make it easy to navigate through all the content and entries etc there...
