Just back from a whirlwind trip to Vegas and a long day flying back and driving 7 hours and doing my own gig. But still fresh on my mind is the mindblowing show I saw Friday night. My first ever Toto show. For a number of reasons I've never been able to go before and I can't go to the LA date so I spent a fortune to fly to Vegas to see this, but I'm not even going to add it up because it was totally worth it! Opening up with three of the best numbers from the incredible Falling in Between: The title track, King of the World and Bottom of your Soul, the band were in top form, even though Simon was suffering from the flu and Mike's neck was in pain. Bobby simply sung his ass off, that man is at his peak and was really amazing. At one point several songs before the end he just grabbed a note and shook it, really singing at the top of his lungs, and amazingly still had enough voice left over the remaining numbers. Luke was in top form vocally and filling the 1000 seat Rail venue at the Boulder Station with his signature guitar style. Greg was simply an inspiration with his amazing vocals and piano and synth licks from his Korg synthesizers. I got to meet him after the show and he is also a first class person, totally cool guy. Toto simply are at the top of their game and I wish I could be at the Wiltern next week.
