No More Toto for the United States?

Postby weatherman90 » Sat Sep 15, 2007 12:04 pm

Most Toto fans know that their biggest fan base today is overseas. They were able to do a lot of American dates this year, but in a recent interview, Luke had this to say of this year's tour:

"Well the fans were great but we lost money. Its so expensive for us to tour with 14 people and 2 trucks, 2 buses and all that we just cant do it anymore aside from a spotted date here or there. NO ONE wants to tour with us. We tried everyone and just got no no no from all that were asked. I think at this point we will just concede we are an international band and go where people want to see us. The audiences in Europe and abroad have been very young and way into it and we did great business so there is a big world out there for us to play in. Most bands in the USA don't do well overseas so we got them there. Its a shame but it is what it is. I don't want to go on the road and be away from home for no money? It IS a job and I do have bills and kids and a wife etc... and I am gonna be 50 not 20 so hey, we tried. Not enough people came to see us to make it worth our while."

I'm disappointed about this, especially since they have been hinting that the 30th anniversary tour will include a lot of special guests like Fergie and Joe Williams. I hope they at least do one date in the midwest so that I can see them again.

This is a major dissapointment. I wonder why no one wants to tour with Toto? maybe because they are such an awesome band? I'm glad I got to see them 3 times within a year. I guess I will just have to save my money for that spot show here or there where ever they play.

People in the rock community just have no idea what a great band Toto is, I would put them up against anyone in a battle of the bands.

It's weird...I saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee and at both Chicago shows on this tour, and they both seemed pretty packed. I think a lot of people saw them at Summerfest and were pretty impressed, and while the Chicago shows were in a tiny venue (the corporate soul-draining House Of Blues) they had a good turnout both times, I thought.

Maybe with the Chicago turn outs they will at least come back here from time to time. Both shows were kick ass.
