Great interview...covers alot of ground. Thanks.
Sounds like Luke has turned over a new leaf.
Little surprised to read him apologising for going off on people in the past.
His online screeds were epic.

Hey guys, believe Lukather. After seeing him bombed out of his mind live so many times I saw him at Brixton Redondo Beach in October and he only drank half a Corona. This was a couple of days before the birthday show where he says he quit for good. Congratulations Luke!

I have no problem with most profanity but Luke has always taken it way over the line and he simply swears way too much, it's almost like he can't go a whole sentence without say "fuck" or "shit". Also on Totonetwork, he even used the "c" word which should NEVER be used because it's so offensive but Luke still used it quite often. So I really he mellowed out in that sense.

Oh fuck that pussyass shit. Swearing is as rock and roll as the power chord. I fuckin love swearing and so does Luke. Fuck it, he can talk however he fuckin wants.

LOL!!!! I think the boozing and long offensive onstage speeches went hand and hand and I do believe that's what he means in the interview, where he talks about embarrassing himself. Didn't hear one bad word at the Brixton.

I'm curious, do you have a wife/girlfriend? If you do, I wonder what she thinks about you thinking it's perfectly acceptable to used the word c**t considering what it means.

People who can be offended simply by word choice need to loosen up a little. They're only "bad" words because someone hundreds of years ago decided they would be, which is kind of stupid when you think about it.

My mom and I went to a Luke show at the Potato with the Lobotomys 20 years ago. He was mouthy at that show and ever since then I've called him Steve Lukamouth. "Lukamouth" 's onstage speeches have been a running joke in my house and we always have had good laughs about it. I told her tonight about him quitting the bottle and the speeches and we had a huge laugh about Steve's mouthy antics over the years. Ah well we all have to grow up at some point right?

I think the nasty behavior in this thread pretty much explains the decline in activity here at Melodic Rock over the past while. Thanks buddy for making it clear.

LOL! My response was pretty much G-rated as far as vintage MR goes.

And cun*t (andrew censors it here, otherwise I'd write as I am not a word prude) is no worse than any other vulgar word.

If you're offended by swear words in the day and age we live in, my god, grow some thicker skin! Must be hard for you to do just about anything without getting offended at that rate in this world we live in.

Oh, gee, no wonder, you joined in July 2009. Listen up, I want you to go to the Journey forum and go back a few years worth of posts. You look like a fool acting like my post above is some horrendous affront against the MR community

I don't mind swearing at all. I swear everyday at least once but there is a line. I don't believe the "c" word or the "n" word should ever be used. Period. I don't think I'm being a prude for saying that. It's pretty sad honestly that you think it's acceptable to call women "c***ts" and black people the "n" word. People like you aren't worth talking to.

Andrew, sorry for getting this derailing this thread. Back on topic.

lol, you're just putting words in my mouth. You're a fuckin buffoon and you need to learn to read. When did we ever talk about racism?

Here's some words from ME that you don't need to put in my mouth: If you can't take the heat, get your ass out of the kitchen lest you want to be bent over and metaphorically buttfucked twenty million times over on this board. This board ain't for the faint of heart like you, Sally.

Back on topic, after reading this interview from Luke, I notice that Luke's recent posts on totonetwork have actually been nicer than usual. Interesting because I never noticed that before reading this interview.

No threat, just telling you how it is on these boards and how it always has been and always will be. If you're gonna sit here and cry about foul language, you're at the wrong place.

Hell, I'd suggest not reading most music interviews or music sites at all at that rate. Go pick up a guitar mag and count the fucks and shits in every interview. You might be surprised.

You need to get out a little more.

I Don't Get It?

Postby Rockinreggie » Thu Feb 18, 2010 2:22 am

I was lucky enough to do a pretty good interview in person with one of the Worlds best known, most recorded & best guitar players & this is what you people have to talk about? Did I waste 20 hours of my life for nothing? It looks like at least a few of you may have enjoyed my interview.

Wow, thanks. That makes me feel good. I just do this for fun & it just ticked me off a litle bit that this thread turned into what it turned into. Ya I know that's how these things work but what are you going to do? Plus that's just Luke being Luke. He really is a very cool dude & is easy as hell to interview. Very down to earth & easy to talk to. :D

Indeed. Although I didn't get the privilege of picking his brain like you did, I did get to meet him briefly when he came through here on his ECT tour. Great guy, even for the 5 minutes I met him. He was genuinely jazzed to be playing a venue that was probably smaller than the ones he started in way back when because we were goin nuts for him and he showed his appreciation afterwards at the meet n greet. He was truly into meeting you and not just going through the motions, as meet n greets so often tend to be.
