7th, Kingdom of Desire, IV, Mindfields (so much better than FIB for me!), and probably Isolation.

I love Journey, but Toto's catalogue as a whole dwarfs Journey's in terms of greatness for me.

FIB threatened to enter my Toto top 5 but didn't quite make it in the end, so it stands as:

Isolation
Mindfields
Seventh One

I have it.....it's interesting. Certainly worth listening to if you're a big fan and interested in hearing Toto do something a bit out of their usual element, but it's also not a record you'll probably listen to a lot unless you're really into soundtracks.

You're not alone.
It may run a little long, but track by track, Mindfields is the stronger album.
FIB has alot of highs, but some tracks (like No End in Sight or Spiritual Man) I could take or leave.

I mean I like FIB quite a bit, but I never quite got the splooging over it as some transcendent album for the band.

I'll take "One Road" "Caught in the Balance" "Mad ABout You" "Cruel" and "Better World I/II/III" all by themselves over anything on FIB. Tunes like Melanie and Spanish Steps ain't half bad, either. There's just more continuity and more classic Toto sound on Mindfields.

Sorry guys, but Kingdom of Desire is miles ahead of both Mindfields and FIB.

It got some of the best grooves ever.

Luke is an awesome singer and KoD has some GREAT tunes and is a very good album, but to me, an album featuring only Luke's vocals with Toto's name on it is missing something.

Depends if your copy has "Kick Down the Walls" on it.
Without it, the tracks get a little too monotonous.
Strong album regardless tho.

Goin Home is awesome! One of my favorite Toto tunes. Incredible that THAT was a B-side.

Live Performance ft Joseph: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql95RKvQ0jc

A bit rough vocally, but still cool to hear.

Bobby is rocking his best Eddy Guerrero impersonation here.

I wonder if they will play it this summer? Would be cool if one of those shows ends up on DVD, or at least a good bootleg.

I listened to Mindfields the other day at work. Some of my favorite Toto tracks, but also a LOT of filler...I have the American version that starts with "Cruel" and "Caught In The Balance," then really doesn't pick up again until the last few tracks ("Mad About You," "Melanie," "Better World"). Would've made a great LP in the vinyl days where they would've been restricted to about 40-odd minutes.

Luke just kills it on that album. Caught In The Balance's lead guitar work is just  outstanding. It's the best his tone has ever been too, for my money. Great harmonics, not overly processed, but very full sounding.

No love for the Williams era?

I prefer Fahrenheit and the seventh one over any other Album, ever. Though I still love Bobbys Albums with Toto of course

PS: Finally some new Posts here^^

Toto is one of those bands for me where one of two things happen:

1. I totally love the album and almost every song on it. or

2. I don't really like the album but absolutely love a couple of tunes on it.

For example, I absolutely love Toto, Hydra, Toto IV, Isolation and Kingdom of Desire.

On the other hand, I could take or leave Mindfields, Fahrenheit, The Seventh One, Tambu and Falling In Between. Yet, I absolutely LOVE Mad About You, I'll Be Over You, Till The End, Only The Children, The Road Goes On (EPIC!!!!!), and King Of The World

Must admit, I do quite like Isolation. And I like the blues sound of Kingdom Of Desire.

Isolation tops for me. Incredible musicianship. Stands the test of time the best.
weakest tune though would be Holy Anna as it is imo a retread of rosanna just played faster.

Toto IV just slightly below. However is a more accessible album. Believe it or not Africa perhaps is the weakest due to the less organic drum loop. So loses out on musicianship. That said truly deserving for album of the year Grammy.

Then its The seventh one and Mindfields equal footing.

I can live without the rest but may take them for a spin occasionally depending on my mood. :P
