Toto, Hydra & Turn Back Remasters out on 24th March

Postby TotoStu » Tue Mar 18, 2014 9:10 pm

This just popped up on Amazon UK! They certainly kept this quiet! I honestly didn't know! From what I can tell it's just the first three albums - and it looks like there's an extra track or two on each one! I presume more remasters are to follow. With these remasters and the live package - certainly looks like 2014 is the year of Toto!

I presume more remasters are to follow... anyone know anything about this? Any more information?

There doesn't seem to be anything on the official website about it...

EDIT:

Found this

On Rock Candy, yes. Unfortunately the tend to master their stuff way too bright IMO.

Would these be better than the Japanese remasters that came out a few years back? These made the first seven albums sound almost remixed - to the better! - and was real ear candy.

Hmm. Well I'm still gonna get em. Really quite like the idea. I emailed Rock Candy and they told me that they are indeed planning more Toto remasters and are actively working on acquiring the rights.

Funny that there has been no official mention on the Toto site though. Find that a bit weird.

Well I've got the three CD's and they are all very good but special mention must go to Turn Back. That one seems to have always been regarded as Toto's lost album. I always liked it before - but the new remaster has really made it a stand out! Led me to kind of "rediscover" it if you will.

There are some really great tunes on that one. Really great. Gift With The Golden Gun, Goodbye Eleanor, Turn Back, English Eyes... those are some seriously good songs! Jump up and down, pump fist in the air, feel great to be alive kind of shit!

How this album did not catch on I do not know. Turn Back in my opinion is a minor masterpiece and now I think probably as good as Toto IV!

Well I think Turn Back had the badest dull sound of all Toto Albums. The music was ok, but the sound .....
Hope the remastered Versions can bring some more clear sound to that one!

IMO the best sounding edition of Turn Back I've heard is the MasterSound vinyl. Nice punchy bass sound :) I can't stand trebly remasters.
