Carrot Styx Concert Dates

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:47 pm

Since Froy is gone, I thought I'd post the concert dates for Carrot Styx (on the "Never Ending" tour) LOL I see that they're in Canada.

I'm curious to know if they'll be playing "Suite Madame Blue" in Quebec. Did Gowan ever sing "Suite Madame Blue" before? Anybody know? It's totally awesome with Dennis and the orchestra!!!!

Is anyone on here seeing Carrot Styx this year?

Yes, Gowan has sung the song before. I myself didn't care for him singing it, however, that's strictly personal preference. And that's all I'm saying on it.

Really? He did sing this in concert? Ack. Do I have this?

I don't remember seeing any current set lists with him singing "Suite Madame Blue". I know he had sung "Babe" in Japan one time. Huh, what other "Dennis" songs has he sung in concert?

Suite,

Gowan sang SMB during the BNW tour. He also sings it during the Canadian shows.

He's not Dennis, but he does a good job on it.

I'll be at the four shows beginning 8/18.

I'm not sure you have this. I know I do...

I believe he has done RTP, Best of Times, and as a special request, Babe in Japan.

Seriously, I hope you guys (and girls and lurkers) post your reviews about the shows and also the set lists.

Zan, did they play "Lights" when you saw them recently?

I'm wondering if Carrot Styx will be changing their set list after the Fall/Winter tour. I'm very, very, very curious if they'll be playing some of the "Lost Treasures" from Tommy or JY that "they" never played before. This is the second time I'm posting this information, we'll have to wait and see.

I'll bet anyone on the board that on the next "never ending tour", that they add an old treasure or two that they never played live before. They'll be coming to the same cities or areas next year again, they'll have to change the set list around and add something.

Any guesses to which song/songs they "might" add?

Sorry, but I think I'm just on a "Suite Madame Blue" kick this weekend

I'm sure they played it on the 'Cornerstone' Tour.(when they were in Copenhagen)
My fellow Styx buddy liked this song the most of all Styx songs. He was thrilled and so was I.
But it was what seems like light years ago

For those of us that appreciate Gowan's version of Dennis' songs, we just don't compare them, nut instead take them for what they are.

Totally fair thing to do. I want to like his voice. It isn't that I compare him to Dennis, I have heard some of his solo material as well. Just doesn't float my boat. But I'm all for those who do like his renditions.

I have that Perspectives boot as well...for me only, QOS....sorry, not so hot. Again, my opinion only.

Peace

SFNH, I appreciate this perspective. It is simply impossible for me to listen to Mr. G sing Dennis' songs and NOT make the comparison. Just my hang-up, I know, but it grates on my last nerves. Simple as that.

And I agree with Sadie. I am not fond of the guy's voice under any circumstances, so, for many of you this is my loss, but I will live with it.

The Truth be told, that song is perfect for his vocal style........and one of the better cuts off BBT. It's just that it was such a PERFECT set up I couldn't help myself !!!!!

I will be seeing the folling shows
8/20/05 Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center
Gilford, NH
8/21/05 Cape Cod Melody Tent Hyannis, MA

Gowan has sang SMB 3 out 3 times I saw him with the group. I do like Gowans voice but would prefer he only see his own songs. Now that does not give him much material since he only participated in Cyclrama but thats how I feel

I saw Gowan sing SMB in 2001. Quite good I thought.

We werre planning on catching STYX at the Elkhart Co. Fair on Labor Day weekend but found out they don't serve beer at the fair.

What's this? a county fair in Wisconsin that doesn't sell beer?

That's un American!

They did SMB when I saw them at a festival in Newark(Ohio), back during the summer of '02.. It wasn't really a bad version, infact it was alright, but no one will compare to Dennis on that one, live or studio.

I could tolerate having Gowan do that one, but he shouldn't be doing ANY DeYoung ballads(including Lady) after the way the band has held those songs against Dennis for so long.
