Equinox vs Crystal Ball.

Postby gr8dane » Mon Aug 22, 2005 8:11 am

OK kids.Honestly.
Only for you who were there when Crystal Ball came out,and you had purchased Equinox when it came out.
Which one was the best.

For me Crystal Ball was total cheese parlour.Though now I do like it a lot ,but only because I haven't played it to death.
Anybody here who liked Balls better????
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.

I was just a little kid when these came out (8 & 9 years old- LOL), I do remember when I heard both of them, they were equally as great as each other, because they were STYX albums. They could do nothing wrong when I was that young, it was STYX!!

I still think they're both great albums!!!

Unquestionably Equinox is the better album. In fact, it is my favorite Styx album.

I don't mind Crystal Ball, but it is not as cohesive, nor does it have the quality of songs, as Equinox does.

MHO.

I go back and forth on this one, but the addition of TS and his timeless album title, plus this old man and ballerina put Crystal Ball on top for me.
My favorite rock tune by STYX will always be BFA off of Equinox. But to get really picky, Prelude 12 is a throwaway for me and Shaws songs are better than JC.

I gotta tell you, I think CB is the most underrated Styx CD of 'em all......
Does it stack up to Equinox ? ....probably not, but I can name only a handful of CD's in all of Rock that do IMO.

In 1975/76, I was 12/13 years old, and hadn't really discovered Styx yet, that came a year later. I First heard the single CB as part of a multi media presentation at my high school...one of those self image/ embrace your uniqueness ( no matter how much of a dork you happen to be )
things. I was ignoring the message but HAD to find out who did that song !

Equinox to me will ALWAYS be Styx's TRUE MASTERPEICE!!

It's funny because Equinox is by far my favorite Styx album, and Tommy is nowhere to be found on it. Cyclorama is in my top 5 and there is no Dennis on it.

I fall in that same "was young when those two cds came out" category like Suite (7&8 respectively) but Equinox is definitely the stronger one. Has better songs overall although the title track to Crystal Ball almost makes up for it
