They just found 30 dead bodies in a nursing home
Now this is simply ridiculous
Why were'nt these people moved out.
I already know Bush is at fault but what about these peoples relatives?
Simply some dumb ass people in this world.

It was reported that the workers for the nursing home left the people there. Now that is all I've heard about it. Tragic and beyond sad.

But since I wasn't there, it is a little hard for me to say who is at fault. Everyone and no one.

And in no way do I feel this is acceptable. I just don't have enough information to honestly answer this one.

Froy,

I respect your ability to believe as you will, but for God's sakes leave the politics aside for once.

Here's part of the article Froy's referring to:

The enormity of the disaster came ever-clearer in neighboring St. Bernard Parish, which was hit by a levee break that brought a wall of water up to 20 feet high. State Rep. Nita Hutter said 30 people died at a flooded nursing home in Chalmette when the staff left the elderly residents behind in their beds. And Rep. Charlie Melancon said more than 100 people died at a dockside warehouse while they waited for rescuers to ferry them to safety.

Here's the link:

It's very sad, and I'm sorry to say, in the next couple weeks there will be more sad stories that we'll be reading or watching on tv.

Was it a situation where the workers had no choice but to leave, else perish along with the rest? If so, what a terrible position to have to be in. If not, what a terrible decision to have to live with the rest of your life. A lose-lose scenario either way, in my opinion.

Thank you for making the point I was trying to make. Hopefully none of us are ever put in a position where a decision of this nature has to be made. Humanity both rises and falls during such catastrophic events. Yes, we will hear more of these stories. Judging from the sidelines isn't going to help.

The tragic stories are only going to come out day after day, compounding, and leaving those of us on the sidelines, and not in the midst of it, feeling frustrated, sad, angry and helpless.

I agree we all are affected by this, and maybe talking about it here in this community helps clairfy one's feelings.

I am not of a mind to say too much on the subject. It is too enormous. The political implications (and the blame games) are for those who want to mix it up, but arguing them gets people nowhere in my estimation.

Does everyone think the federal govt knew about a nursing home in Chalmette where apparently the staff abaonded them to die? Was their a neon light flashing on the particular building in ST Bernard Parish that FEMA was suppose to see. Hell, Gov Blanco refused entry of the Red Cross, not the Federal Govt. I would think these specific deaths are the fault of the individuals in charge of this particular nursing home, then the local law officials in St Bernard Parish. By the way, St Bernard has a fantastic record of fighting crime in their are, I think this is one of many things that got overwhelmed by the circumstances, more to come on that. But to once again, lay this at the feet of the President or FEMA, come on guys....
