Styx Solo In Print Question

Postby bugsymalone » Tue Dec 20, 2005 4:07 am

I was listening the 7 Deadly Zen’s on my mp3 player today (ok, alert the media!), and it got me to thinking. A friend supplied me with this recording, but if I wanted to buy it new, could I?

What solo recordings by members of Styx are still in print?

I know Desert Moon was re-mastered and reissued and I believe it is still in print/production. I believe the same is true of The Ultimate Collection. Not true of Back to the World, Boomchild, or 10 On Broadway.

What about Tommy’s solos? Still in print? Any reissues? Any GH or Ultimate Collection package of his solo work?

JY?

Gowan? (In Canada?)

I figured some on here may know the answer to some of these questions.

Good question Bugsy :)

Check out Ebay and you'll see the prices which ones are out of print and which ones you can still buy. (Actually I'll get the info for you) Some of those are just crazy :)

I have a couple of Tommy's cd's still in the original wrap in one of my Styx boxes. I'm not sure which ones, if you want one, I'll send it to you. I'll look for it a little later.

Sadly...I have to concur. I have 2 of his solo works....which is why I only have 2...I may collect...but...in that case...very daunting to complete the collection.

I do believe 10onB is still in print...but I will have to verify that.

Thanks for that info everyone. I am not in the market for any of these, but thanks, Suite, for the offer.

I did check Amazon and it looks like 7DZ is the only one, possibly, still in print, besides the three DDY CD's that still are.

10 on Broadway, I believe, is out of print, Sadie.

The JY info surprises me not at all.

Try your local used cd shop...they are a wealth of hard to find cds, although they are catching on to what is out of print and selling impossible to find cd on ebay for themselves when they came in.

A friend of mine found Tommy's Ambition for me in a used cd shop for $2.50 about seven years ago. I've seen it go for close to $100 on Ebay.

Oh I am aware of where I can buy any of the solo CD's/Records/Tapes that are out of print and/or hard to find. Apparently some people will GIVE them to you. :D

What I was wondering was what solo works from Styx members were still in print. That is, if a store, online store, etc., ran out of copies, more could be purchased from the record company because they are still being printed.

Looks like, in Canada at least, several of Gowan's albums are still in print.

That was my question. I got it answered in various ways and thanks.

Okay, I found the time to go through ONE of my Styx boxes and the extra Tommy cd's I have is 7 Deadly Zens.

Bugsy it's yours, mah ha ha ha!!!

I should check and see all the cd's that I have boxed up. I know that anything associated with Styx I usually don't open and throw in a box.
