Open Arms - Tommy

Postby ek88 » Fri Oct 27, 2006 10:54 am

Found a tribute version of Open Arms on I-tunes sung by Tommy. This one got past me, I don't remember hearing anything about it. When did he do this, does anyone know?

Thanks.

Tommy is singing Open Arms because he is the guy who actually wrote that song.

Back in his M.S. Funk days the song was titled 'Open Frame'.

They used to close their Moonlight Bowling set with that number.

Steve Perry & Jonathan Cain stole that song from him.

I received my M.S. Funks CD yesterday. Open Frame is the bonus track. These are the lyrics. Tommy also had written a note after the lyrics. I will post it here:

Open Frame- ( performed first on: 10 -14-73 ) - For Ish & Munsen- You will always be members-T.S.

Standing beside you
here in my socks
bowling shoes costed too much
loudly your screaming
I need a beer
How can our team be so bad
We bowled on together
the 7-10's a part
straining too much
you will fart

Chours 1

Now I come to you
with one open frame
hoping to God you practiced last night
so here I stand
with one open frame
hoping you'll see
how much bowling means to me
open frame.

Erecting a new house
Please Ish dont go
we need you bad on our squad
Milking a new cow
milking a bull
no smokes in your Amish home
But now that your leaving
It's become our 10th frame
Mutilated hand is to blame

Choursll

So now we come to Ish
With One broken arm
Nothing to hide
this is our last frame

so here we stand
with one open frame
hoping youll see
the pressure on me
open frame

Repeat first chours twice...

T.S. linear note: To Munson- We were so damn wasted brother we had no clue what happened. Ish couldnt take it and went all Amish on us. This song is damn painful to sing. I may give it away one day. I'm not really sure if it's finished. We miss ya bro.

Tommy

P.S. any good lookig chicks up there in the 13-15 year old range. You are the Kingpin

I hate to post this but damn...............

Tommy Shaw has to be the most unlucky or the stupidest human on the planet.

First Dennis steals Come Sail Away from him- All Royalties go to Dennis

Then Journey steals or dumbass Tommy hands them Open Arms- All Royalties go to Journey

Finally, Touchtone Pictures uses The M.S. Funks story to produce the Woody Harelson / Dan Akroyd movie Kingpin.
Neither Tommy or any member of M.S. Funk received a dime for this film

No damn wonder the current rendition of Styx has to play 240 shows a year.

You know what, Yogi? I just leave the paper towels by my monitor so I can clean it off everytime you post something like this! :D

Gosh. Poor Tommy! All those songs! Stolen without so much as a "by your leave!"

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.
