Yes and no. The Biscuit reels which is what stations got in 1976 had a few more songs. I own that. Got it on eBay years ago. I own the only copy I've ever seen.

The whole show was recorded, but the Biscuit never aired the whole thing - ever.

I have several Biscuit CD copies, but not the whole show on CD. I have, however, HEARD the whole show and have it on cassette and it does sound like it came from a radio station. It also has Suite Madame Blue and Midnight Ride, maybe a few others.

When I worked in radio we were a Biscuit affiliate and I asked them about releasing this show like they have with other ones (Kansas, Molly Hatchet, Steve Miller) and was told the band will not allow it. I asked for a copy of the whole show and they would not give it to me. But I have it on cassette somewhere

I have the 5 song King Biscuit version (I think it's this order):

Born For Adventure
Lady
Suite Madame Blue
Midnight Ride
Lorelei (cause right at the end he says "goodnight".

Again that would have been about a 30 minute set, which may have been them opening for someone on this tour..

I believe that King Biscuit show is definitely the April 18, 1976 show in Toronto, maybe. I bought that years ago on an audio cassette at a record show. It's great! And that KILLER Born For Adventure sounds great all cranked up in the car with a few Red Bulls by ya side! Don't you agree, Suite?

Well ya had me in your corner right up until those Red Bulls...though I do like Starbucks (but recently coming to love Caribou Coffee).

I know I have the Toronto show you reference...but have no idea if it's the Biscuit show or not.

Allan,

How many songs are on the Biscuit show that you own? Which ones are they.

The CD that I own of this show has Born For Adventure(opens), followed by Lorelei and then Lady. I might have those two mixed up in order. My copy has a King Biscuit stamp and it is not a CDR. A four song Supertramp set follows.

Couldn't tell you how many are on the reel. I played it about 5 or 6 years ago and planned to archive it and never did.

I'm not at home, but I can tell you as far as the Biscuit on CD, it was repressed a few times. The original is a pressed CD and it was Styx/The Outfield. The top is a blue colored CD. The Supertramp version is a much later pressing if it's official (not a copy).

I think subsequent pressings only had 2 songs, but I believe the original has 3.

The reel has like 5 or 6, and the full show is more than that (But not much ... those days they were playing ~45 mins opening for Kiss).

Allan,

I hate to disagree with you, but I dont even think that The Outfield was a group when this recording was made. It was recorded during their Crystal Ball era. Was The Outfield around in 1976?

As for the Supertramp portion, my recording has Sister Moonshine on it. Thats pretty damn old. I believe this recording was from The Crime Of The Century or Crisis What Crisis era.

Isnt all of this material before The Outfield was even formed???

Yogi..

King Biscuit was notorious for putting a show together to air on radio of two different "era" bands..

The disk that I have (Styx/Outfield) says it was created for broadcast the week of March 18 to March 24, 1991

Outfield were still popular then (riding their hit "For You") and same with Styx (Show Me The Way)

Many compared Lewis/Spinks to Deyoung/Shaw (Billboard did many times) so it was just one of those quirky shows they aired.

But from the sounds of it the three songs of Styx's were just repeats of older shows.

Oh and the Outfield set was from Tyler Texas, I believe from 1986, because they were in the Middle slot on the Journey "Raised On Radio" tour..

Jodes,

What I am saying is that the Styx recording I have is from 1976. As for Supertramp it is pre Even In The Quietest Moments, pre Breakfast In America.

I know it is from 1976 because Styx opened the show with Born For Adventure. After this tour Born For Adventure was not used as an opener. After their Grand Illusion tour the song was dropped all together.

Finally, I believe my pressing is orginial because Styx starts the CD and it has three songs. It is followed by Supertramp. I am pretty sure that Supertramp has 4 songs. I may be wrong and it may only have 3.

Thanks Collector, wasn't sure.

The Outfield first toured in 1986. I saw them open for Starship that summer.
Supertramp has had quite a few shows recorded for concerts. I have a CD of one they did at the Allen Theater in Cleveland on 4/19/75 and I also have a tape from a Hammersmith Odeon show from the same tour for Crime of the Century. And there was video/audio for a November 1977 appearance at Queen Mary College in London and a few floating around from the Breakfast in America Tour.

The Styx recording is from 76, but as Jodes said, KBFH paired two bands not necessarily of the same era in the same show. Like "In The Studio", KBFH recycled shows and artists.

Your CD is an original made for radio stations (I have some with the printed KBFH on CD-Rs that are not "homemade"). Later on KBFH went to CD-Rs in the late 90s/early 00s, but the original version is a pressed CD. That's the Outfield/Styx show.
