DDY songs featured on "Office" last night

Postby rajah2165 » Sat Dec 16, 2006 6:40 am

Did anyone catch "The Office" last night.

Two Dennis song references -

1. They had a karakoe machine and Dwight was serenading Angela with "Lady"

2. At the end Michael Scott quoted ex girlfriend Carol as saying "Domo Ariagoto...Mr Scotto"

Dennis popping up in popular culture everywhere!

Those are Styx songs.......Did they use Dessert Moon? That would be a DDY song and yes, Styx is popping up everywhere!

I would think the original post is correct. It seems to me that JY and Tommy have tried to distance themselves from those songs as much as possible - so I don't think it is a stretch that he called them DDY songs. After all, they are. He is the only one performing them.

They are Styx songs, for sure. But the royalty payments for use of the songs go exclusively to Dennis.

No they are DDY songs.
Lady - One member of the current band touring as Styx was even on the recording and he didn't write it, play lead guitar on it and barely sung back up on it. Plus its one of those cringe inducing ballads that said member can't stand. Therefore, it is not a Styx song. It is a DDY song.

Mr. Roboto - the band continues to deny that this song existed. It therefore is not a Styx song. It is a DDY song. Plus DDY sang all background vocals on this song and did 95% of the instrumentation on the song.

As of now, I start refering to all DDY penned Styx songs as DDY songs. That is how the band wants it.

Gee... Ask JY - he wants to disavow Mr. Roboto and all those other "cringe inducing" songs doesn't he Chicago? Or do you only consider them in a favorable light when it's trying to leech good things off DDY's work?

Where's JY's lawyer when he needs him? He needs to get cracking on that lawsuit against "The Office" for using those songs without prior approval from HIM. After all, JY is quick to claim credit (and $$$) for any of DDY's cringe-inducing songs that put money in his pocket (or up his nose) in the past....while at the same time denying that those songs even exist.

Just because JY acts like an ass sometimes doesn't mean anyone else has to jump on the "I'm an ass bandwagon" too

I just came from the thread and was writing about being honest about who John was.

I think it's funny how there are some in this thread who will twist JY's comments about "cringe inducing" ballads to fit their needs. JY's comment was about Babe and First Time. There's no doubt in my mind that he wasn't refering to Lady. Let's also be honest that there are huge differences between a song like Lady and First Time. It could be argued that Lady isn't even a ballad. One thing it definitely is, is a rip roaring rock song.

Also

Where do people come up with the "barely played on" and "barely sang on" stuff? Those sound like three part harmonies to me and a typical JY guitar solo at the end.
