To be fair, it was pretty much only DDY throwing barbs in the first year or so after the split. The rest of the band stayed relatively quiet about it until post-BTM (not that it helped their case with certain fans.)

But yes, it's nice to see that he's been able to get past it, at least in public, and unfortunate that JY just can't seem to let it go.

I could see where Deenis would throw barbs when that happened. It was probably one of the worst feelings in the world to loose somthing that he helped build and then get it taken away.

Oh, of course. I keep forgetting he's a martyr. I'm glad I keep coming to these boards to be reminded.

Oh please. That isn't what he was saying. Perhaps you are tired of it, but that's on you. And I do realize years of reading and participating have got to get to a person. It also makes it far easier to assume what someone means.

Dennis certainly helped make the problem and should share in the blame. But he was also entitled to feel angry and hurt and human enough to express it. Just as all the members were/are entitled. I'm sorry the fans have acted the way they have over the years, but I don't think someone stating what this one did should be taken as condoning that "Dennis is a martyr". I've long wondered how any of us would have reacted were we in their shoes. Mercifully, it's doubtful many, if any, of us will ever know.

No one can blame Dennis for his reaction when he was booted. But what if the flip side is true, that Dennis made life miserable for everyone else in Styx for years. If that is true then their bitterness is just as warranted.

The point of the previous post is that yes, JY is whining but then again so did Dennis. Neither of them are better than the other.

I agree. I was merely pointing out that I didn't think the intent of the post was that Dennis was a martyr. As I said, I fully believe he owns just as much of the blame as he does the praise.

Thanks for getting my point accross. Sometimes when I say something or type something, it comes accross different to different people.
Not wanting to start something major, but I do have to ask one more thing about Dennis and Jy whinning. Jy does still whine in most of his interviews, but has Dennis whined recently? Most interviews I see, he is saying stuff like, "yes I would like reunite with the guys again but that is up to them", it is just the opposite of what you get with Jy.

I am not sure if Dennis made "everyone" miserable in the band. I have had a chance to talk to Tommy a while back through his Myspace page, and one question I asked was "why do you hate DDY?" he said he enjoyed performing with Dennis and he said he does not "hate" him and he would like to work with him again one day. Chuck is another person that doesn't hate him by all the emails that I have received from him, although he is upset over the lawsuit, he still likes him. There is Glen to, but of course Glen is performing with DDY again, so...

I think over time, people started to understand how DDY's mind worked and sometimes didn't work :).

ok, I am done, back to the original post.

Thanks

Going back to the original topic....

Perhaps their next cd title should be a sometimes used phrase by JY

The Encore Edition of the Soundtrack of Our Youth.

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I think Tommy dreamed up the title while playing in the little bowling alley in Montgomery.

Thanks for your calm comments on my little bit provocative post. I´ve been on vacation for a couple of weeks so that´s the reason for my silence. I still think Lawrence is great but I admit that I´m not biggest expert on Styx and CYO video was actually the first time I have seen or heard Lawrence´s live performance. So I can accept the possibility that you real Styx fans have seen few bad performances from him.

I don't care what they call it, but it better not have the word's "LIVE" or "Paradise" in the titles...
