Another song from the Wooden Nickel years that has always managed to at least catch my attention is, "A Song For Suzanne". I just kind of like the way that it builds during the bridge, when Dennis sings the line, "I knew, I must stay.."; there's some cool guitar after that.
I know Dennis and Suzanne have been together the whole time, but has anyone else ever interpreted it more as a regretful love song? The lines, "now we are free and we are growing old; the wishing tree still stands there, and shades our memory", makes me wonder a little; I realize the line, "now we are free", could be taken either way, but when combined with the overall tone of the song, it just seems a little negative.[/code]
