The translation!

Hey there! Time to pull my weight here and contribute something rather than just chiming in now and then.

So, apologies if someone did this already and rendered me a day late and a dollar short, but... I noticed someone ran the French lyrics of 100 Years from Now through a translator program. Well, I buddy of mine is total English-French bilingual, so I ran it past him for a translation. The program did a pretty close job with the general idea and key words, but since my friend is a human being (I think), he was able to actually go a step further and make it grammatically correct, and even make a little sense.

Again, apologies if I'm being redundant, but it's the thought that counts! So, here's what we got:

Thanks. Thats some heavy stuff just like the guys voice. I like the roughness of his voice in a Joe Cocker kind of way with these lyrics. I don't think I want to hear a DDY only version. There is mystic. I like the song a lot the way it is.

Sorry to post a reply to my own post. Ijust listended to the DDY interview on the release day to find out that Eric L. wrote his french sung lyrics based on the song. Good stuff.

There is just so much that I like about this song. Thanks for the lyric translations, MOM, and the original lyrics, MltLady.

I like Eric's voice as well, but, as I said in the other thread on this, I am a fan of those rough, soulful voices.

I decided to do a bit of vocal comparisons with this song. First, I listened to "To Miss Somebody" where Dennis duets with Jim Peterik, who has a similar type of voice that LaPointe has (only Peteriks' is way better and richer). The blend on that song is terrific, I think.

I also went back and listened to some of Dennis' earliest vocal work, "Golden Lark" and "Unfinished Song", and am still amazed that at age 60, he sounds as good as he did in his 20's.

OK, so I digressed....
