A PERFECT SONG

Postby yogi » Mon Jun 25, 2007 12:57 am

Our family went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio yesterday. We left for home around 7pm, and after dinner everyone was worn out and feel asleep. I got to drive my wifes SUV with the stereo cranked waaayyy waaaayyyy up for a good hour plus.

'Crossing The Rubicon' is a damn near perfect song. I ABSOLUTELY love it!! It does have a little Hip Hop sounding part in it, but even that fits. I only wish this song would go on for about 20 minutes. The guitar work is GREAT, the song is haunting and Dennis nails it the entire way. Its just a GREAT GREAT tune.

I feel this is one of his or Styx's best songs EVER. This song was on repeat for 40+ minutes. I honestly still cant give this CD an honest review because I really have only listened to one song.

The last time a song grabbed me like this it was Def Leppards 'Woman' off of Pyromania. I remember listening to it over & over & over in college.

OK, so tell us how you really feel. :D

I suggest you give the whole CD a good listen. There are two are three, or eleven, I feel that way about.

Crossing the Rubicon has a lot going for it -- brilliant lyrics, fantastic vocals and harmonies, and, of course, those signature keyboard sounds. It has a haunting quality that stays with you, in my view. And just when you think it is going one way, he trips you up and takes you someplace else.

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

Oh my,

Not freaking amazing for me. Some songs are good but not worthy of comparing to some of Styx's best tunes of the '70's.

I agree that you can't compare it to Styx 70s. Those days and that flavour of classic rock is gone. I tried to judge it for what it is. My first thought was that a couple of songs are nice. The weird thing is that as I listened to the CD a few more times (with the volume turned up), the songs got better and better with each listen. Songs that I hated at the beginning, I now think are some of the best on the CD. Strange...

Yeah .. where the heck is my CD? Going on 10 days since I ordered from Mr. DeYoung. Come on man. I need to be Styxified. If anyone in the camp is reading, I'm David from Baltimore, 21206. You know that guy. LOL
