I'll say this... this record sounds like a classic pre "Brave New World" Styx record. It's just undeniable. From the vocal production to the song arrangements. I can hear bits of "Little Suzie" in "This Time Next Year", bits of Equinox here and there - and bits of what you heard around 1997. I've only listened all the way through a few times.

Hell in a few places I could almost swear I could hear Tommy Shaw singing backing vocals.

Got my copy today from DDY's website. First thing I noticed was (I looked real close) no hint of the "sacred" word "Styx" on the album. :D

I have to agree with you on this cd. Through one spin already and it sounds great. My sister heard the "100 Years from now" and was impressed how someone at 60 could still sound that good.

I can't say that I dislike any song more than the others because they are all great. I see what your talking about with "Crossing the Rubicon". The song that I love though is "I don't believe in anything".

I also like how he included his wife in the vocals on "Respect Me" and his son in "I don't believe in anything".

Well off to give the cd the "yogi" listen.

Crossing The Rubicon has reduced me to tears. Not in years has a song been so timely to my life. I'm such a sissy. I'm honestly sobbing like a child.[/quote]

Many a song has reduced me to tears. DDY keeps doing that to me over and over.

And as far as a you being a sissy, that's silly. All it means is that you have DEPTH, which is refreshing in a person, male or female. :-)

Crossing the Rubicon still has me thinking of my own life, but I wasn't the one who crossed it. I was the one on the shore watching him go. That's where Forgiveness came in.

Geez, now I'M misty-eyed again!

"Save Me" is an absolutely amazing song. As someone who doesn't particularly care for ballad-y type songs unless they're really good... this song continues to blow me away on each subsequent listen.

This one could really take off under the right circumstances.... a la "Show Me The Way".

I totally agree. I am not particularly a ballad type either. If handled right, I also believe "Save Me" could just make today's ROCK/POP CHARTS to a degree. I have listened to it about 10 times and I can't get the tune out of my head when I lay myself down to sleep.

David

PS --- I'm also taking to "I Don't Believe in Aything." Heck, let's go go the country charts too. LOL

You think maybe he may not have a credit card or isn't able to afford purchasing the CD?

It's only available online if you don't live in Canada..
