Suzanne has said for a long time that Dennis' hair has always been greying, he had just been dying it forever.

When I think of the classic lineup, I think of that poster that was in Grand Illusion.

If I remember correctly, I think she mentioned that he started greying in his 20's. She would color his hair and then sometime in the 80's he was so sick of having his hair colored that he started going natural, salt and pepper look and then what it is now. I'll have to replay that interview and she explains it. I thought it was interesting.

You know I've seen DDY pretty close up a few times and I can put money on it that it's not a "rug". I've looked and looked, maybe it's just my eyes.

Is he playing any of his new album?

I'm not sure if he's playing one or two new songs at Rockfest. I'm pretty sure he'll be playing three new songs in Milwaukee, I know two for sure.

Are you going to the DDY show in Milwaukee next week????

Have fun at Cadott!! How many days are you going for? I'm looking forward to a review of your time there. I kind of wanted to go, but I wanted to stay in a motel and not camp for those days - LOL

But Darwin, no 'stache for JY! I *like* my men clean shaven. But hey, I'm just one opinion in many.

Hi Amanda :) You should move down here to this area, well north of Chicago

I prefer JY with the 'stache better, IMO.

I haven't a clue what he does for onstage, but I have been about two inches from the top top of his head in the full sunlight. (He leaned down to hear a question I was asking, so I got a good look. ) Sunburned scalp showed through tight, curly gray/white hair. It is quite thick on the sides and back, but very, very curly. Personally , I think gray or white hair never looks "real." Something about its texture.

My only other comment is, if it is "not real," he has found fake hair that grows and needs to be cut from time to time.

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

Hey Suite! How about I compromise and move to the Illinois/Winsconsin border, right in the middle?? But then, would I get to see DDY as often as I do in Montreal?? :-)

Dunno. But I figured I could answer his question, so I did.

I think he's a very handsome man for his age.

If this kind of good looks are a trend in Chicago, I'm moving! :-)

Hair seemed a big deal to Rajah and Froy, when talking about Tommy and Rick.
Figured it would fit in with ,hairstyles of Styx past and present or something along those lines.
I wonder if Dennis wear boxers or briefs.

See that's what I saw too with his hair - LOL I would say it's the texture that's for sure. I have 11 "stress" hairs. They are heavy, wire like white hair. Just wonderful!! It's the same texture.

If it's a rug, why would it still be wavy? It's obvious through the years that he has that thick, curly/wavy hair.

You all are so funny to make fun of someone's hair!!

Amanda :) Make sure you move on the Wisconsin side though!! He sure does play Montreal a LOT!! I still think he'll be playing our area a little more. He'll be in Wisconsin in March too. I'll be at that show, even if it snows again :)

I'm trying SO hard to make it to Montreal this summer!! I do love road trips :)

LOL! My place is kid friendly, don't worry! I have a boy of my own and I've had five of the critters at my place at once. :-) My son would be in heaven with playmates!

Thanks for the invite down South, you never know ....

So you do know there are more Montreal dates for sure after August in the works? I'd love another round of concerts at Place Des Arts.

The guy is 60 years old... give him a break.

At least he doesn't look like a homeless person.

It's the stark contrast as to what we remember him as in the classic line up

Not really. Check out the Tokyo 1982 video - DDY is already showing grey in his sideburns and basically had the haircut he sported on Roboto. He's basically kept that hairstyle since 1982/3.

Now, if you're talking the DDY of Paradise Theater and earlier, yes the hair is different. But DDY's hair (except for some coloring a la 1996) has been the same now for over 20 years IMHO

There comes a time when everyone needs to get a normal looking hairstyle like DDY did during Paradise Theater.. it's called growing up.

thank you fashion police. guess you'd tell my husband to cut his hair too....

sorry. some like it long, some like it short... i say

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

everybody sing! ;)

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

Oh say can you see
My eyes if you can
Then my hair's too short....

Hair

Postby BlackWall » Sat Jul 14, 2007 5:26 am

I see the subject has turned to Dennis' hair again; so, I must chime in, lol..

I have a friend who has sworn for years that it's a rug.. I don't really care, and if it is, I certainly don't blame someone in the music industry for trying to retain a youthful image. The thing is, didn't someone on here claim that he actually adjusted his wig at a show during the "Edge Of The Century" tour? This might have been a joke, but I remember seeing the post..

My only thing is that he seems to have a better hairline now than he did in the '80s.. It could just be the way he styles it; I have hair somewhat like his, and I know that it can change shape or form pretty easily, and become more flattering depending on how you wear it.

Styx & Angel on March 02, 1979 is the only date I have for Styx at the Nassau Collesium in 78 or 79. That is why I asked.

That would be me!!! Sure looked like he did. And to this day I would swear that is what I saw....
But having meet the man for the first time in person last year, it looked very real. My wife was with me and she is a hair stylist (has been for the past 15 years), and she said it looked like the real thing. But there are treatments out there that can put real hair on your head. My brother in law has had both... So I am no help here-ERIC

C'mon people... Dennis has enough money he could have easily gotten a good hair transplant if he needed to.

Please think of more inventive ways to bash the guy... I'm sure you can do better.

Damn straight.

If there are any two phrases which epitomize rock'n'roll, they would have to be "growing up" and "normal looking."
