That was one of the bones of contention. They wanted to do rock shows, but DDY pushed the theatrical thing. I don't know the numbers, but it was apparent they could have made more money doing a regular Styx show and save the theatrical thing for certain dates/places. Unfortunately, we all know how it turned out -especially when they brought it to stadiums.

Dammit Kilroy! :P

I know they could of made MOOOORRRRE money.

But did they all earn????

Were their bank accounts fatter at the end of the tour than at the beginning????

If instead of making 5 million a piece they made 1 million, How can they really bitch about it???

Some people call that a $4 million loss....

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the theatre shows they lost their shirts on which forced them to do the larger venues.

I think if you balance the losses of the tour against the financial gain of the album sales and airplay money, they all made SOME money. However, it wasn't anywhere near what they could have made, and they were losing money on the live shows that they didn't really want to do in that way in the first place. So it made them feel like they were going to a job they didn't like, only to be told, "Hey, not only are we not going to pay you, but you are going to OWE some money." I can't blame them for not liking that too much.

Of course, it was made far worse by the fact that Dennis, as the writer of both hit singles, made far more money than everyone else. That made the existing tension far worse.

Did Tommy Shaw, John P. Chuck P., DDY and JY have more or less money in their bank accounts at the end of the album and tour than before it all started???
