Tommy Shaw Ambition review Classic Rock Mag Sept .Iss.07

The quiet man of AOR.
Styx stalwart TS hasn't been over-endowed with critical plaudits from the too-cool-for -school section of the biz,and yet wrote plenty of hits for Styx, and sold a few albums when he was in Damn Yankies too.His solo carreer occupied equally populist blue collar territory.
Ambition was his third record, and it showcased his radio-rock voice-more Lou Gramm than Steve Perry-as well as his knack of writing a pleasant tune.
Ambition lacks killer songs, but stuff like Ever since the world began and The Weight of the World are too good for filler too.
6* out of 10.
