Let the bashing begin. The dells concert last night was just awesome. Although I knew ahead of time that chuck was not going to be there I decided to bring my copy of his book anyway to see what the other guys would do with it. Well because of that I got a jy/tommy guitar pick and tommy personally threw me one of those bags that they now throw out before the encore. He also apologized to me for chuckie not being there but I told him that was okay anyway. Okay so the after show madness begins (well sort of). So we go out by the back of the building to see if we can catch any of the guys leaving. Well after waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting we decided to just sit in the car and see what happens. Well after a few minutes of that we heard a few cheers so then we decide to go and check it out. And who would it happen to be out of all people? the godfather himself jy. He also apologized for chuck not being there but he said that he should of been there. I also told him that you guys need to come around here more often of course he agreed and he would talk to charlie about that. I also told him if they would ever dust off light up or anything else like that and he said he would discuss it with tommy. So then I got to shake his hand, got him to autograph my book and then he also autographed my mom's grand illusion shirt. We joked with him that the value of these two just went up and of course he agreed. With all the bashing of this line up around here these guys are class acts all the way. I can't wait to see them again. Here's the setlist for those interested not in order of course.

Blue Collar Man
Grand Illusion
Lorelei
One With Everything
Too much time
lady
midnight ride
man in the wilderness (acoustic)
suite madame blue
rag time/walrus
Crystal Ball
fooling yourself
miss america
come sail away
everything all the time
renegade

If i'm forgetting anything just post it here. No matter what you all say about this line up they are really awesome. Also on the way home we heard grand illusion on the radio how ironic is that?

We were at the show. Yes, it was a great show. Granted STYX has become somewhat of a guilty pleasure. There is really nothing cool or hip about them. But they do put on a good show.

Tommy is a classic rock god. Gowan is the ultimate entertainer. Ricky and Todd were driving and steering a runaway Mac truck and JY's a dork.

The highlight of the set for me was Suite Madam Blue. Midnight Ride was pretty good too. I am pretty sure Tommy just played a snippet of Man in the Wilderness before starting Crystal Ball.

The Crystal Grand theater is a nice venue too. It holds about 2000 and it appeared to be nearly sold out. I like the fact that I can call their ticket office and talk to a real live person instead of a computer and that the price printed on the ticket is what I paid for it. There were no "service charges" added on. Plus, they have a very large FREE parking lot, beer was cheap and the staff friendly.

All in all it was a great time.

Crystal Ballroom is a very cool place, I've seen Styx there twice, but it always seems too fancy for a rock concert! They are good about letting cameras in and I heard that they let people bring in their own beer? lol!

And since you don't go to any of their concerts, I guess that's something you will never know.
