I'm not entirely sure WHERE to post this, because it's appropriate in at LEAST two threads here if not more.

I enjoyed this evening a 'holiday gathering containing sizeable suitable alcoholic consumption' with friends....one of which is a local DJ here in town, one of which holds the same job at a MAJOR rock station in a major Florida market...and I'm keeping those details to myself, for the sake of their jobs.. The two had not met prior, did not and do not know each other, and they arrived almost two hours apart of each other. Early in the evening, my local friend informed me there had been some kind of buzz going around about a MAJOR rock "tri-headlining" tour next year...enough so that they've been told to put a radio "hush" on it until furtner notice.......later in the evening....the friend from the Florida market told me the EXACT same thing....in a different part of the house, having not visibly spoken to the other guy...

And the three names involved...Dennis DeYoung , Peter Cetera, and the Lou Gramm Band.....and both were adaman that it wouldn't be a "symphony" show...that all three were going out and playing rock songs AS rock songs...and that DeYoung may even have Glen Burtnik with him.

So...I'm throwing this one out there to chew on. And particularly, I'm wanting Andrew's factual opinion on this one....

I'm more than sure I'd probably pay to see it. There's a few Cetera solo songs I'd likely use as beer breaks, but the outpouring of what would likely be CLASSIC Styx, Chicago, and Foreigner songs....from the voices who MADE them what they are...would likely make me want to see that!

Anybody? Heard it? Could it happen? Would you SEE it?

While this sounds intriguing, it will have to fall into the "wait and see" category for me.

There have been many rumors in the past to this effect and nothing more came of them.

Maybe this time it is a bit closer to reality, but no one will know until it is officially announced.

I would most definitely go to this should it actually take place.

saw cetera in cincinnati this summer w/ a local symphony... very good show. appeared w/ddy
but i dont think this would draw more than a few thousand people, could do the fair/town square circuit(you would not believe how much money is put out for these gigs) not a shed tour

Hmm.. If this tour did happen (Tri-headlining) we would be lucky if we got 60-75 minutes from each band member. Not saying thats a bad thing, but its logistics.

There was a rumour back in 01 or 02 that DDY and Cetera would do a few dates together but that never happened. Wishing thinking of promoters maybe?

Also, Lou Gramm. Would he be able to do a 50-75 date tour due to his health? Its not a knock on the man, hell hes gone through so much and still kept going, but how many dates does he do a year now?

Finally has Peter Cetera done any tours in the past 4-5 years?

Would be great to see, but I would prefer if it was Perry, Deyoung and Gramm.

Would love to see it, but would be surprised if it is a major tour. Cetera only did like 4 dates this winter of a non-orchestra tour. Can't remember when he did a major tour. Same with what someone said about Gramm's voice holding out. If it happens, it may be very limited tour but worth the price of admission.

Two out of three I would probably say are definite, probably signed already and ready to go. IMO.

Yep, back in 01' - 03', it was hopefully going to be: Perry, DeYoung and Cetera.

If you do a search on here you'll find more information a few years back when we talked about this (in 03'). Again, I forgot what the tour was going to be called, The Three........., Bugsy was there, she probably remembers what it was called since I keep forgetting - LOL

I wasn't there, but it was planned to be called the Three Rock Tenors.

I don't think this would set the industry on fire, but it would be a decent show. Though I have concerns about Mr. Gramm (no disrespect meant to him at all).

Peace to all

I'd also be concerned about Cetera... like others have said, I don't think he's been on an extended tour, and on the recent symphony DVDs he has put out, he still sounds good but I think his voice is starting to kick (said DVDs are at least 2 or 3 years old too I believe). Everything is played down, sometimes a whole step down and he really abruptly cuts off/alters his phrasing because it seems he can't hold the notes the same way anymore. Still, if this happens, my money's in it.

Well, you were SOMEwhere, Sadie, because you told ME about it! :)

I guess no one really knows the status of Perry's voice (or willingness to get "out there" again), but I sure would love it for him and Dennis to team up with Cetera or Gramm for this kind of tour. What an amazing evening THAT might be!

LOL...that or once again that insane memory I have for miscellaneous details comes through again. I confess..I just don't see this being a full blown tour. Perhaps a select number of dates. But given the health of some, the age of all, the Hunchback show...I just don't see this as being a full blown tour.

In terms of Mr. Perry, while I always thought he had amazing talent, I am not convinced his voice has held up, nor do I think this would be something that calls to him. I know several years ago Cetera was doing symphony shows, but I also believe he prefers to do a handle of dates and enjoy his private life in Idaho.

Peace
