Current Setlist?

Postby BidForGreen » Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:33 pm

Someone has invited me to go up to Atlanta tomorrow with them to see Styx (I'm in Macon). My question - what is their current set list? My friend says that because DDY is no longer with them, they don't play any DDY songs. So, what are they playing these days? Just Tommy stuff and new material?

Thanks

I'll be there tomorrow too! 8)

I've seen this version of Styx several times. They still do some of DDY's material. The ones they usually include are "Grand Illusion," "Lady," "Come Sail Away," "Loreli" (sometimes), and a few snippets of his songs in a medley they perform. They've also been known to do "Suite Madame Blue," but I've never seen it for myself.

Other than this, they usually include all of Tommy's hits, and JY gets his one or two songs in there. They also seem to try to throw one or two newer items in there, but not always.

I hope this helps. Enjoy the show!

Give or take a song or 2 its most likely going to be Blue Collar, Grand Illusion, Lorelei, Lady, Too much time, Walrus, maybe Midnight Ride/One with Everythiong, Just Be maybe, Suite MB, Crystal Ball, Criminal Mind/Walrus, Fooling Yourself, Miss America , CSA, Everything all the time, Renegade. The medely has been retired they need to make a new one I think.

Enjoy! I'm seeing them next week and can't wait for the long Styx only show. The spring tour with Def is a pass for me can't get good seats yet and won't pay $150 or $250 for I love all Access ticketing.

They don't. Their solo shows that I have seen have always been around 1.5 to 2 hours in length. When they play shorter sets, like on the Def Leppard tour, they simply play a shorter setlist.

Here's the set that they played last night (1/18/08) at Wild Bills in Duluth, Georgia:

1) Re-worked intro/Blue Collar Man
2) Grand Illusion
3) Lorelei
4) One With Everything
5) State Street Sadie
6) Lady
7) Too Much Time on My Hands
8) Snowblind
10) Larry's Old-Time Piano solo/I am the Walrus
11) Boat on the River
12) Man in the Wilderness snippet (Tommy solo)
13) Crystal Ball
14) Suite Madame Blue
15) Fooling Yourself
16) Miss America
17) Come Sail Away
18) Everything all the Time
19) JY & TS solo/Renegade
20) One with Everything Outro (as usual)

It was a pretty good show, but they didn't start until 11:00pm and the venue wasn't the greatest. Other that that the only other comment I have is that I really wish they would add "Man of Miracles" to the set. I mean, they've been using the image for t-shirts and stuff for several years now. It's not that long of a song and would sound pretty good. Yes, it may not be one of their greatest hits, but it would be a treat for fans, even more so than any of their newer material.
