Does Anyone Else In The World

actually like the song "Number One"?? I have seen so much hate for it over the years, and anyone I've ever played it for has cringed, but I think it's pretty good.. Does anyone else feel this way? No, it doesn't sound like classic Styx, but it really has some pretty cool lyrics, and it rocks. They sounded pretty modern, but I know to most people that sounds like an old band trying to put a new face on, and might come across as a little pathetic.

I thought some of the minor details of the song could have been better, chorus harmonies and such, but I still like the song anyway.. 8)

One of the worst songs on a bad album....Especially the end "Whose that....." "Whose not..." Horrible...

This one never did anything for me. Very bland song for Styx. It sounds nothing like them.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Jeeze. I had to go back and listen to this one since I almost never listen to this album. :?

The song mostly sucks. It does have that pretty middle part with some nice harmony (the "I believe" part) but it is pretty much another failure of a song on a failed album.

Gotta be brutally honest, I think it sucks. It's like, how many songs were you trying to write here? The various parts have nothing to do with each other, IMO.

So, I guess my answer is, yes; I'm the only one in the world..lol Well, maybe Tommy Shaw, J.Y., and Jack Blades(was he a co-writer?) have my back, but that's it.

I like it.

The album was all over the map but I actually loved Roseland & Everything Is Cool. Heavy Water, What Have They Done To You, Brave New World, Number One and While Theres Still Time & Witness were all decent to good.

For me the problem was the bad songs were sooooooo horrible they induced vomit.

This song has a lot of meaning to me honestly and I really like it. The song is about mental illness and the struggles that mentally ill people deal with on a daily basis. As someone who is bi-polar and was diagnosed in 2005, I can sincerely relate to this song in many ways. It seems to me it's about a friend who is trying to talk to his friend and encourage him through life.

You can't be still, such a nervous fellow
like the yo-yo up and down
you take this little pill and life could be so mellow
you feel the world start slowing down

This is very true. In my case when I am off my medication, I find myself with racing thoughts, the inability to concentrate on a single task, anger and severe depression.

You won't feel the pain.
You won't mind the rain.
You can be happy all the time.
One dose twice a day, the world will go away
and you'll be smiling through the worst of times

To me this seems a little more critical. People with severe dementia and schizophrenia will often require heavy duty drugs such as thorazine, abilify and Xanax to help them be able to function within what life would. The point of mental health medication isn't to to make you happy in misery, but to help you balance the neural receptors in the brain so you can function on an as-normal basis as possible.

I believe in something more
I believe it's just beyond the door
I believe there's something better out there
Wanna leave this world so far behind
I can see your face there in my mind
I believe there's something better out there.

Who'se that walking through the door?
Who'se not wasted anymore?
Who gave up that crazy war inside you.

This epitomizes mental health. People with mental health problems don't choose them, many times these are inherited. In my case with bi-polar 2 disorder, I always feel like there is a constant war raging inside of me. Between happiness and sadness, euphoria and pain. The key is to find a way to balance that. Thanks to my doctors I am fortunate to have been able to find some medication that works for me with minimal side effects.

I am a luck one tho. Not everyone is as fortunate.

I completely agree with you Ash, and have something similar to bipolar, but I'm not diagnosed, or anything.

The real question here is; Does any one else [besides me] in the world like "High Crimes and Misdemeanors"? And the answer is no.

But I do like the song, Love, no, but I like it
the song both pokes fun at the government and music industry of the time.

Never mind, it seems that I'm not the only one. :D

I was on here before and the song was being slammed so I figured it wasn't too popular.

Here's what to do with the Brave New World CD

Axe- Best New Face, Just Fell In, Great Masturbation & High Crimes(Hip Crap) and do Tommy's job and sequence in this order.

1. Everything Is Cool
2. Witness
3. While There's Still Time
4. Number One
5. Fallen Angel
6. What Have They Done To You
7. Brave New World
8. Heavy Water
9. Goodbye Roseland
10. Reprise

It's not too bad now. Actually I like it.

Waaay better CD this way. Good one, Yogi. The order makes far more sense with 1 and 10 bracketing the whole package. I NEVER understood why "Everything is Cool" was not the lead track on this album anyway.
