New melodic prog band that Styx fans may really like

Postby scottkahn » Wed Apr 15, 2009 12:38 pm

Hi all,

I'm posting to introduce you to my band, Days Before Tomorrow, and our new CD, The Sky Is Falling. It was produced by industry legend Ron Nevison, who produced Damn Yankees (among the other gazillion huge rock bands he produced in the 70s and 80s). People draw some comparisons to Styx because of our big vocal harmonies, though the music comes from a slightly different place.

http://www.myspace.com/daysbeforetomorrow has four songs from the new CD.

Our primary influences tend to be: Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Genesis, '80s-era Yes and Rush, Spock's Beard, etc. It's very melodic progressive rock with big hooks, vocal harmonies, and complex arrangements.

Thanks for checking us out. I'll be very curious to hear what you think, both positive as well as negative.

Best,

Scott

Sounds great! - in some parts, the lead singer has a Bon Jovi Sound. This is the type of music that radio today NEEDS. The hooks, harmonies & melodies are virtually non-existent in almost all band out today.

The outer space / ethereal sounds that are used to open up "Wasted Years" really set the tone - fantastic!

So where can I buy an actual CD & not just a download? I got money & this sounds awesome.....

Thanks for the feedback, and for posting the link to CDbaby -- they ship worldwide, which has been great since as you can imagine, Europeans are more excited about our style of music than a lot of the US. Buying from CDbaby.com is a better option than iTunes since the CD a) sounds the best and b) includes a cool 24-page color booklet illustrated by artist Steve Bentley, and features our concept story that ties the album together.

We're getting played on Internet radio stations (prog ones), and working on XM/Sirius... there's not much hope for FM radio these days, though we're pursuing a limited number of radio possibilities. They all have an issue with songs over four minutes long -- what's up with that!? :-p

Nice work Scott.
You may want to go to www.progarchives.com .You can introduce your band and yourself there.Suggest yourself to be
enlisted under new band suggestions.
I had a look there to see if there was anything on your band, but did not spot anything.
Congrats w/ the opening gig for Keef.
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.

Thanks gr8dane. I actually posted some things a while back there but it clearly didn't get into the right area. I will investigate progarchives more today.
