PrintEmailArticle ToolsPage 1 of 1 Between summer classes and work, many students just look at June and July as another semester. But there has to be some time to get away from the monotony of your daily routine, and what better way is there than to get out for some live music? Dauphin Street alone has some good acts coming its way for June. Soul Kitchen Music Hall will host Cross Canadian Ragweed, The Molly Ringwalds and Better Than Ezra toward the beginning of the month. On June 12 Guns 'n' Roses tribute band Appetite for Destruction will bring the jungle to Soul Kitchen for us Guns fanatics. The 20th and the 26th showcase The 17th Floor and Seven Mary Three respectively at Soul Kitchen. The Alabama Music Box has plenty of local talent like Mob Towne Revival and 6 Pack Deep playing every weekend, and on July 1 Plain White T's will grace the stage. Local band ManDown will be playing at the Blind Mule on June 27. Those of us with a taste for heavier, fresh music will be there for what is going to be a great show. If you are looking for some bigger names you will have to venture out of Mobile a bit. The Amphitheater at the Wharf in Orange Beach is set to host Earth, Wind & Fire; Styx; REO Speedwagon; and Steely Dan through the month. You will not regret making the short drive to catch Styx in action. The Black Crowes will be at the Beau Rivage and Corey Smith will be at the IP Casino in the first few weeks of the month in Biloxi. The annual CPR Fest will be on June 26 at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum headlining names such as 3 Doors Down, Hinder, and Drowning Pool. Check out what else is going on in the music listings in Lagniappe, visit soulkitchenmobile.com for all of their upcoming events, or browse around ticketmaster.com to find just what you are looking for. Remember, it is summer, so lose your stress for at least a few hours at a great concert.
