Gowan Interview

Well, I'll say it then - since the hook was baited and all....

I saw them in concert & Gowan sucked royally - he spent most of the show facing Todd, with his back to the audience. During the times when he was actually spinning the keyboard around he never really stopped to face the audience much.

When he tried to do "Come sail Away" - it was ridiculous. He was so nasal sounding - like he had a terminal head cold or something. It absolutely ruined the song & every other one he tried to sing that Dennis used to.

Just a spinning, dancing leprechaun that does NOT do any of the old STYX songs justice.....

Look for Styx to fade after this tour
Notice nothing from JY in the last year
He see's the writing on the wall
The greatest STYX lineup in his mind is over..

Maybe JY has been quiet and subdued due to the fact that his wife is ill. He doesn't want to spend time doing interviews when he can spend that time caring for his wife when he's not on the road.

I mean at this point, what else can they do?
How much longer can people be asked to listen to the same 10 songs over and over again. I was sick of it after 1997 after two straight years of touring and since then they've dropped half the set list and gone with 10 song mini sets within 3 act concerts. I mean get over Too Much Time On My Hands already.

They can't get a record deal. No one wants to throw money at them to do yet another record that won't sell.
The only concert deal they can get is the 10 song, 75 minute set with at least 1-2 other bands.
What is next? 5 song oldie shows?

The only thing they can do to give themselves any type of legitimacy is take 2010 and 2011 off and come back with Dennis in 2012 for the 40th anniversary of Styx (isn't 1972 their first album?), do one big farewell tour with one last album, DVD live of the show, and be done with it. At that point DDY is 65, TS is 60. Go out in style. Don't just fade away on the county fair circuit with 4 other "Oldie' bands....

Thanks everyone. This discussion has done one thing for certain...make me realize how frickin' old I'm getting.

It is absolutely true these bands are getting to the age and point where they need to bring everyone together and do one last tour, ending with a big blast somewhere and say..."thank you everybody...I hope you enjoyed the ride!" The end.

It was fun for a while seeing the groups Styx, Journey, REO, etc. coming through with their greatest hits sets, but I have tired of it and rarely drop the bucks and won't go too far out of my way to see them.

As a long, long time music fan and growing up in the 60s/70s, this is getting somewhat depressing.
