Either "Too Much Time" or "Music Time", they are the top of Styx's terrible videos.

Even though they were lip synced, I enjoyed those three performances of those songs.

Agree with Froy. It was fun and actually had some thought put into it, anyway. Guess ya don;t need to be Stevie Wonder to have some taste or a sense of humor!

We have had long discussions here on this one. (Surprised it wasn't dredged up, too, :P ) It was very in character for the type of videos being made when it first came out. And it is hilarious.

I never understood why the song didn't chart higher - it was totally in tune with the times and only went to #40 for one week. I remember I was shocked when it lost it's bullet at #40. Did A&M just now promote it? Styx had just come off an album with 2 top 5 singles on it. You would have thought the song would have rocketed to at least the top 20 based on the Brand Name alone at the time - regardless of the song's quality. Wouldn't every radio programmer want "the new single from Styx's new album!". Did A&M screw that one up? Did they just ignore it? Obviously they put some money into a pretty elaborate video - where was the money for promotion?

Styx, unfortunately was a bit too late for the MTV age. For the time Mr. Roboto was actually pretty good. I liked all the videos from Edge. SMTW was played so often that I'm more familiar with it. although I dig Glen's hair in LITR. :D

I like big things (beep beep), the size of them imprsses me.

Actually I voted for Show me the way, aside from Music Time, a lot of these are just performances and have no real creativity to them. I always like the Borrowed Time video, because it use to run in rotation on video concert hall.

I believe it was said here, and brought up in Sterling's book that radio stations really didn't like to play Styx's songs. They were very reluctant about it. Tommy had already left [I believe, though I could be wrong], and since he was the one they sent to the radio stations to promote their songs, they lost a lot from his being gone. Also Styx as a whole was breaking up to do their solo projects, which probably affected A&M support.

so ya, back on topic, I of course chose Music Time

Well, radio was reluctant about Styx early on, but certainly not later. The reason "Music Time" didn't work is probably more A) It really does kind of suck, and B) The band had broken up, snd part of Styx' radio strategy had always been to leverage interviews with the band members (a lot of that was Tommy, but not all), in the touring markets. In this case there was no band anymore, which meant no tour, which meant no real reason for radio to add or promote the song. So the formula that had made Styx a radio success in the first place no longer applied.

Also, without Jim Cahill to jump start everything, A&M just threw it out there more than likely with no plan. It was never the label that drove Styx' radio success, it was the band's own team.

I hope all is well.
