The song that everyone loves to slam once again provide Styx a rare mention on National TV. Conan used it as part of his opening act - saying that he had the DJ exclusively play Mr Roboto for the entire Tonight Show Christmas party. They even had it in the background playing when he was leaving a phone message to his director. That song, CSA (NBC's Sing Off) and Babe are really the only 3 songs that enable Styx to break into national consciousness. Too bad the guy behind them isn't with them anymore....and too bad the current band rewrites history by pretending 2 out of the 3 don't exist...

I probably wouldn't mind not hearing Babe live, but Roboto should get some play. I mean, they used in the Medley for a few years. Do they detest the song so much they can't play more than a snatch of it?

Still, I could live not hearing Roboto live too. There are many other songs that they pretend don't exist, and without good reason. Why not play Midnight Ride? Not as 'kick-ass' as Miss America? Why not play Shooz, Borrowed Time, Great White Hope, or anything else?

Because I have not seen them live yet, the oh too familiar set list some complain about would be fine by me for my first going, but I wonder how many times I'd see them after that if it was just the same thing?

On a side note; I don't know if Styx has actually complained about Babe recently, but after Cyclorama they lost all right to. I really like the song, but 'Yes I Can' was Tommy's Babe. You can say that Babe is 'wimpier', but if I'm remembering correctly, Babe had a guitar solo, and not acoustic guitar. :wink:

. Toph not that it's any of my biz your free to watch what you want but why does anyone watch conan? Stick with the other guy on cbs in the same time slot. Just a suggestion.

I doesn't bother me, that DDY is no longer in the band, they both seem happy doing their own thing. Yeah I would like to see them together again even for one show, but if they do they do, if they don't they don't. But what bothers me, is like what was said, STYC trying to rewrite their great great history with a ONE of the key players. Face it, Styx is Styx because of ALL the members, not just one. Take one out, and you no longer have a whole group.

I like to watch Conan, sheesh! I also like all the other late night talk shows too. It always depends who the guests & music groups are. Thank goodness I have AT&T, I can dvr all the shows at the same time

The song appears several times in the Japanese drama Densha Otoko.

In a 1999 Volkswagen commercial, the actor Tony Hale dances to the song inside of a Volkswagen. Furthermore, this commercial is later referenced when Tony Hale plays as the character Buster in the series Arrested Development. In a flashback Buster hears this song in the stair car, starts to do the robot to this song, and lodges his hook into the dashboard of the car.[citation needed]

Earl and Randy from My Name Is Earl do the robot to this song while strobe lights illuminate them at the end of episode 5 season 2, "Van Hickey".

In the Season 2 finale of Chuck, Jeff and Lester perform this song at Ellie and Devon's wedding, where it is used to score a major gunfight that breaks out during the scene. no, but I kinda feel bad for you. Ever since you posted that bit about the Dennis DeYoung concert and the run-in with GB,
then subsequent thread topics about the most inane topics anyone could possible conceive, it would just be too easy.
You constantly bemoan the fact that you're out of work. Then go be productive. Contribute man, don't wait for opportunity to come to you, seize it. Don't sit around on your Mom's dime, surfing the internet and watching tv, go make something of yourself. If you can't find a job, then go volunteer somewhere, it'll look good on your resume. Go to your local Library and learn a second ot third language.

Of course, none of this is actually any of my business, but you kinda lay yourself bare when you talk about yourself here.

Oh you can't say anything bad about Thenightbull, here! He's "young". That gives him an excuse for constantly trying to bait DDY fans into his little conversations. Remember, he's young - so thats why he quotes JY being an asshole about Dennis. That's why he constantly posts trollish topics like how much it costs to book neo-Styx. It also gives him an excuse for being a contentious geeky tool.

I know I'm going to regret this, but what is so trollish about asking how much Styx is getting paid these days? Whether you are a Dennis or Tommy fan is irrelevant to wanting to know if you could afford Styx at your birthday party. I'd be curious to know what Dennis brings in for his gigs as well. I'm not arguing the merits of Thenightbull, I just think it's a valid question.

It was a topic meant to bring about contentiousness and you know that! I beg you to go back through thenightbull's threads and you will see a pattern. If you, or I , or anyone else without his history had posted it, it would be a different story - but judging from his previous threads (and actions) I think you know the intent behind his posts.

I honestly haven't put that much effort into it. We know we have one individual here who posts under different names. He may be one of this guys alter egos but I kinda doubt it. When I see the messenger being attacked instead of the message, I usually chime in.
