I'm wondering if Styx recorded the Regeneration albums solely to make this DVD possible. Notice that they re-recorded every song that Dennis probably would have held on to from these two albums. Sort of like Lady '95

For a CD release with DDY's songs on it, Styx would not have to get DDY's permission....but for a DVD release, DDY had to sign off on it. I'm actually kinda surprised he did it.

Peace,

Dexter

I am wondering if they did Regeneration to get around DDY? A "loophole?" The same way they did Lady '95 to get around Wooden Nickle.

I think it was more of a way to get around the record label which owns the original recordings. They would directly own the Regeneration versions so they would solely profit from the use of those recordings in commercials, soundtracks etc. That is if someone would want to use re-recorded versions. It appears that the band thinks so.

I'm actually kind of excited. The DVD/2CD set should be in my mailbox tomorrow afternoon. I've always felt that Styx sounds better live so I'm glad to be able to have songs like Man In The Wilderness and Queen Of Spades live at professional quality. Wonder how this will chart. It has consistently been in the 20s and 30s on Amazon's concert DVD best sellers chart for the past few days.

It would be a long shot for this to do anything on the charts. Same thing if it was DDY releasing something like it. I don't think the majority is that interested in what washed up '70s and '80s bands are doing now. But, stranger things have happened like what happened with OYFN in Canada.

If anyone is in the area of Skokie, IL tonight could you bring Froy a cup of coffee? He is camped outside the Best Buy store waiting to buy GI/POE on Blu-ray.

#18 on Amazon right now. I'm predicting 3,500-5,000 copies sold in the first week.

I've got to say...this is a DAMN GOOD DVD. Excellent video quality and possibly the best audio I've ever heard on a live DVD. They really nailed this one. I guess all good things take time. Leagues better than the Arch Allies DVD and infinitely better than CYO.
