In the Studio with Redbeard

Didn't know if any of you have heard this yet, but I thought I'd post it. Redbeard put up an acoustic version of Crystal Ball sung by Tommy in 1981. Includes "missing" verse. Also, on the right side of the page, is a brand-new interview with Styx and DDY for the 35th anniversary of Grand Illusion. Good stuff!

What I find amazing is that Tommy sounds just as good, if not better, today. He's really taken care of his voice.
Sometimes it makes no sense at all.

It's amazing in that most of the guys still sound as good if not better than they did back in the day. I've not heard JY live in a while, but my understanding is that he is the exception. May not be any fault of his own - just wasn't much there to take care of to begin with (coming from a HUGE fan of Miss America and Eddie).

It's a testament to them taking care of their bodies as they aged. For as much abuse as tommy put himself through (not trying to dig that up) during the 80s, it's great he's found healthy living. Steve Walsh of Kansas also lived hard in the 80's and it destroyed his once majestic voice. Steve still sings well, it just is a different style now. Listen to his album "Shadowman" which is the best song writing of his career Kansas or otherwise.
