Mademoiselle Live?

Postby RumTumJM » Sun Apr 06, 2014 3:18 am

Rumor is that the guys played Mademoiselle, last night in Wisconsin, for the 1st time in decades.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

What's up with the random numbers before the songs? But that's a damn good setlist. Nice to see One With Everything back in the set.

Maybe it was a Copy/Paste from a master list, which has all of the songs in their repertoire on a numbered list?

Plus, I LOVE seeing Superstars & Snowblind back. Just keep Queen Of Spades in the rotation, and I'll be a very happy man!

AWESOME and way overdue.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Interesting to compare the Styx vs Dennis setlist strategy. Styx is clearly targeting the die hard Styx fan. Like the folks on this list. The casual fan who remembers Styx from 70s/80s by what they heard on the radio probably doesn't recognize even half of these songs. Dennis on the other hand is clearly targeting casual fans who may only know Styx by what they heard on the radio. His setlist is 100% hits with no deep tracks. Neither is right or wrong - just different strategies.

I would MUCH rather hear deeper cuts than "The Hits". Seriously... you can hear those any time... and we have for years. Mademoiselle SHOULD have been a big hit. Great tune.

And you are exactly Styx's target market. But I'm betting the casual fan wants to hear the hits, which is what Dennis is offering. That is his target market. I just find the strategies interesting.

I would agree that some of the better known non hits should be put in the set list. I think you could strike a balance. Personally, I was kind of bummed that DDY didn't do BFA at the El Ray taping. Would have been great to capture that cause I think they do a gr8 live rendition of it. It seems to me that when he has put in the set list even the fans that aren't that familiar with it enjoy it.

It was an awesome show at the Dells. I wanted to go get drinks, but they kept playing deep cut after deep cut. Finally, they played Blue Collar Man and I made my break. Mademoiselle was the biggest surprise. Superstars was great. But if they were going to play deep cuts from TGI, I would rather have heard Castle Walls.

Oh, and JY shouldn't be singing Light Up

I think Dennis should have put Love At First Sight in the video, and he should also add it to EVERY one of his sets.

Its a GREAT mid tempo ballad that strays a little from the standard Styx ballad. It was an underrated gem, and with zero backing from the stiffs @ A&M received plenty of love on VH1 and on FM pop stations. Sad to say but it will probably be the last Styx single to ever crack the top 40.

As for the Styx set I was never a big fan of Mademoiselle but I would still really like to hear it live. They should add Young Man to their set. I would also like to see them at sometime rotate: Lights, Borrowed Time, On My Way, Dear John, Little Suzie, Everything Is Cool, These Are The Times,Yes I Can, and Everything thing All the Time to their set. Add & subtract 1 or 2 every set to keep everything fresh.

When they come to my area I will now go see them because I too love the deeper tracks in their current set.

DDY should also really think about adding Borrowed Time to his set. It may have peaked @ 64( it got TONS of airplay in Mpls/St.Paul) but millions of people owned Cornerstone, would know that song and would love to hear it.
