Styx - Suite Madame Blue Radio Broadcast 1977

What's the deal with this release? It is showing up on release charts and it lists MVD Audio as the label which I know issued a couple of the newer Europe records. Seems legit, but I am not convinced.

I cant wait to purchase this. I did a little bit of research on this CD but couldn't find out a whole lot about it.

I have the Styx Mantra radio broadcast CD and like it even though the sound quality is REALLY lacking. I sure hope the sound quality hear(pun intended) is far better. Also, on the Mantra studio recording Suite Madame Blue is cut toward the end.

Looking at the order of songs I am left to wonder if it's the same recording only adding 2 classic Styx songs I hope I am wrong. On this recording you get Crystal Ball and Styx's magnum opus Born For Adventure.

I'm PSYCHED, I just hope its not the same recording + 2.

Strong setlist and this is clearly the Grand Illusion tour. Not sure if they were headlining at this point or not. What I find so interesting is how many from Equinox and how few from Crystal Ball. Even back then, I guess they realized the songs on Crystal Ball had failed the test of time. Think about it. This is one album after Crystal Ball and there are only 2 CB songs. The setlist is dominated by Equinox (5 songs) and Grand Illusion (4 songs) plus Lady. Come to think of it, not sure why Wilderness or Castle Walls isn't on this setlist. This also says to me that A&M really blew it on Equinox. That was a powerful album that really got overlooked.

May have to pick this one up.

Ive ALWAYS felt that Equinox was one of the GREATEST rock and roll albums of all time.

I loved The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight but to me Equinox will always be their best ever work.

Did the classic Styx lineup ever play Man In The Wilderness or Castle Walls live? Both GREAT songs but I don't think that DDY, Tommy, JY, John and Chuck ever put those two or Superstars in their set.

I really like the Mantra live CD but the quality of that radio show is really pretty poor. I sure hope that this recording is better.

I have a live King Biscuit show where Styx opens with Born For Adventure and they also play Lady & Lorelei and the quality is AWESOME. I hope this recording is good.

Man in the Wilderness was played live when they toured their Grand Illusion album. It's on YouTube. In fact, the entire concert is there and on Wolfgang's Vault that was filmed at the Winterland Ballroom in San Fransisco. Two concerts, in fact. One from April 1976 when they were touring for Equinox, and from the GI tour. The filming was done by in-house cameras, so it's not the greatest, but both shows are still pretty amazing to watch. I have both shows on DVD, actually, and I found it on Tommygun Video.

For Yogi, or anyone else who hasn't seen these clips, these are the setlists for the concerts that were filmed at Winterland. All the vids can be found on You Tube and Wolfgang's Vault.

Notable: Tommy had been with the band for four months; the guys all sport KISS boots; Dennis wears Suzanne's maternity shirt.
Born For Adventure
22 Years
Lorelei ("It's time to masturbate")
You Need Love
Suite Madame Blue
Lady
Midnight Ride
Light Up

January 28, 1978--Grand Illusion Tour
The Grand Illusion
Lorelei
Mademoiselle

Suite Madame Blued
Crystal Ball
Light Up
Lady
Man in the Wilderness
Come Sail Away
Midnight Ride
Miss America
Born For Adventure

It's a boot. And not worth 16.99. Search long enough and you can find it online. I believe the bands recieves no money from this or the Grand Illusion Live CD that came out and appeared on iTunes sometime last year.

I don't care if its a bootleg if it is a high quality boot. Any idea of it's quality? Any idea what show it's from( Houston, NYC,etc)?

How can amazon sell this if the band or a label doesnt approve it? Isn't that against copyright laws?

I think that depends on who holds the copyright ownership to the material.
