How was it?
It was good. I think if I'd seen them several times, I'd have been bored with the setlist, but being the first time, it was great. I'm not a JY on vocals fan in the least - never have been. So I could have done without his stuff. I'm a huge Dennis fan, so Gowan has never quite sat right with me. But I will say he owned it. He definitely gives it his all.
I went for Tommy Shaw and was not disappointed. Played great, sounded great. I could tell just by the mechanical nature of some things that he may be bored with his own setlist.
Sucherman was a monster on drums. It's not like he stood out all that much unless you focused on him and then it was like wow, his dude is insanely talented. Ricky Phillips was of course great but I think his vocals were making the harmonies seem off a little.
Good and enthusiastic crowd. I'd say far more energetic than the crowd at the De Young show back in Jan.
I did think during the show that Dennis' current band is really amazing and I believe much tighter than Styx sounded. I think I said it before, but Dennis ought to me thanking his lucky stars for those two guitarists he has right now. They are quite good, both playing and singing.
Saw Huey Lewis last week. That was a fun show. He's got quite a sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Next up, Lewis Black next week. Goo Goo Dolls in July. Also in July I am taking my mom to see Loretta Lynn for my mom's 80th b-day. I'm actually pretty jazzed about seeing her as well.
For Goo Goo Dolls they are playing a local outside park/theater and my entire family is going. Which is 16 of us. I'm very into their latest album. Should b a lot of fun.
Back to Styx - Damn I hate looking at those crowds. Cause they are my age or even older. Old people rocking out.

It was at a casino. There was some glory day drinking going on. We went to an all night restaurant several hours later and a drunk group came in belting Lady. Pathetic and fun at the same time.
