Is Styx being petty?

Postby blt man » Sat May 16, 2020 11:03 am

So Styx announces something big is coming from them next Friday, May 22.

Is this an attempt to drown out Dennis' release on the exact same date?
Is it petty and nasty of them?
Or, is all fair in love and war?

Unless it's a reunion, yes, they are being as petty as they've been being for 15 years. I'll give them the first 5, but after that, fuck them.

I think it's more petty and pathetic that Dennis wants a reunion so his trolls have to come out to play.

Tommy and JY are not paying any attention to what DDY is doing. Just a coincidence.

Like the title of the ‘Assembly Line’ I think Styx will perform an entire concert on their YouTube Chanel of nothing but Tom Petty songs. Styx being Petty

Styx cant tour because of a "medical" issue.
So these two new guys that want to work take over?
Sounds legit.
Just wonder if JY/Shaw will want to comeback one more time after this.

LOL, are you for real Monker? The Troll of Trolls has spoken, Styx fans want a reunion so we are pathetic according to him. Read the comments on the BOT that DDY filmed at home. You won’t because you are afraid of the truth. One million trolls and counting.

In addition to the BOT video and the responses, are you on any social media or other forums? There is a POSITIVE response to have a reunion tour.

Aren’t you due to aggravate some Journey fans?

Do you even know what a troll is? It's someone saying things in a forum to stir things up and get attention, like asking if Styx is being petty.

As for me, reply, don't reply...don't care. I am going to say what I say regardless.

Styx fans want a reunion so we are pathetic according to him.

No, that is not what I mean. It is pathetic for Dennis to use fans response to his videos as leverage to start a reunion. It's pathetic of you to spread his propaganda, almost word for word.

It is NOT pathetic for someone to reply to YouTube video and say they wish they could hear the band together again. You don't even need to be one of your so called "true fans" to say such a thing.

Read the comments on the BOT that DDY filmed at home. You won’t because you are afraid of the truth. One million trolls and counting.

I already read those. I already said I read those. You are not paying attention. My response is "so what". They are just people being people. Fans are selfish, they want what is best for them. Most don't care that it may not be the best for some of those involved.

In addition to the BOT video and the responses, are you on any social media or other forums? There is a POSITIVE response to have a reunion tour.

I don't go to Styx related forums on FB or whatever because I think I would be kicked off pretty quickly.

Aren’t you due to aggravate some Journey fans?

And, talk about what? Journey doesn't exist any longer, IMO. It's Schon/Cain with a lead singer. That's not a "band".

Funny how you imply the same about Styx...but Tommy/JY haven't said the rest of the band are replaceable with any decent musician and do not contribute anything significant to the band. I would expect Dennis to say that tho....he IS the one who has replaced the entire band.

Na, a troll is someone who mocks someone's mother for having Alzeimer's and then when the loving son asks what would be great song to have one last mother son dance at one's wedding and "uh Mr. Roboto - don't worry she won't remember it"

That's a troll that needs a beat down.

That's fucking being petty..

No, that's more than being a troll. That is being cruel, heartless, intentionally mean and unempathetic....and trying to get off by making you angry...all done with the excuse of "I was just joking"..

Just say you are sorry Monk, it was a horrible mistake and move on.

Since DDY took Tommy, JY & Chuck to court and lost, the ball will always be in Tommy, JY, & Chucks court as to whether or not Dennis gets back with them for one final go round. In the eyes of the court that’s how it should be. I would never argue that fact. They can record, tour & play with whomever they want to.

My personal feeling is that I like the shit out of both bands now. With that said, I don’t care what ANY court said because I will always believe that Tommy, JY and Chuck more or less stole Styx from Dennis by telling lies & stretching the truth. At least 4 of them and I’ll include Cahil made shit up at a time when Dennis was probably physically & mentally at his lowest. They had the numbers on their side when they were spinning their story. The numbers generally win if they all stick together.

I think of Def Leopard often when talking about Styx. Those guys waited around for their drummer an average drummer to learn to play the drums with one arm rather than move on without him. They did this at the ultimate height of their career and risked everything financially. Those guys are STANDUP. That’s how you do things.
They should of waited for Dennis to get well instead of spinning a tale&spewing lies to steal HIS band.

Since they were all getting long in the tooth, it all boiled down to $$$, # of shows, and the set list. DDY was a risk on all sides for all of them once he got sick. They choose to move on without him and the rest is history.

That’s more or less the story I will always believe. If you were Dennis Monk I believe you would be beyond pissed how your band, the band basically you identified with as being who you truly are as a person since it was the crowning achievement of your life’s work was stolen from you. And it was stolen from you by people you thought were your friends.

Now that’s shitty.

Now tell Jones you were sorry cause that was shitty too.

I would never say anything like that to anybody in that situation. I went back to that thread to see who it was and it was someone I don't remember named gr8whitehope, or something like that.

You owe me an apology.

I re-read through that thread to see what I did say. I entered late and suggested Journey, "Why can't this night go on forever".

And, this is what I believe:

I think they wanted Styx to be a rock band. When Dennis started changing direction to make Styx into a soft pop band with Cornerstone, JY and Tommy became irritated and frustrated: The debate about "First Time" and firing Dennis prove that to me. When KWH was released and the tour happened, that pushed Tommy too far and he quit. When they reunited, all of those frustrations started coming back, due to Hunchback, the half tour...and when Dennis said he was sick and couldn't tour, that was the last straw. They fired him and put all of the above in the past and moved on...and I doubt they will ever let him back in the band.

you cannot compare the def lep story to styx and here is why.

#1) the def lep boys were just that, school boys and friends.......some of my best friends in life are schoolmates. or friends I made when I was a teenager. Rick Allan was 16 years old when he joined Def Lep. so they grew up together, created their empire together and were good friends and very loyal to each other.

#2) styx on the other hand did not have that with JY & dennis, or especially Tommy and DDY. Look at how loyal and nostalgic dennis is to the panozzo twins........that is the def lep comparison that is more in line.....they had a band as kids and stuck together.

#3) JY didnt come along to shortly before they were signed and I could easily understand how they never truly meshed as super close friends because of their different tastes in music.

#4) then tommy comes along, not as a friend, not as a guy who there from the beginning.....but an emergency replacement who had a fire minute auction. what bond was there? what childhood/teenager friendship was formed before stardom? none......tommy was a "thank god we found someone that fast, now we can tour, let's go".......the fact that he meshed well enough and wrote songs well enough to stick around for this initial 8 years was all all a bonus.

my point is that tommy shaw and JY not sitting around and "waiting" on DDY during his "sickness" is not remotely the same as what happened in def lep.

and I for one have never tried to understand why any of them have done what they have because I don't know how it truly was to work with each other and whether they really like each other or not or ever did.

According to Dennis with Tommy & JY both there Tommy was nothing more than an embryo when he joined Styx. So he had been with them his entire life when he wanted to go solo.

I am a TRUE Styx fan and I didn't watch the BOT video. I also don't really care if there is another reunion. Tommy, JY, Chuck and John lived through all those years with Dennis. NONE of us did, so how can anyone claim the band was stolen from Dennis or that he deserves to be back in it, when we were not in that band.

I am totally okay with the reunion of '96 and the tour of '97, being that version of that bands goodbye. They were great on those tours and Chuck fully participated. Now, we can enjoy both DDY and Tommy/JY. I'm satisfied.
