I thought The Mission sounded great, had great production. But as far as the songs go, only a couple have held my interest, both sung by Larry. Tommy and JY were both a let down on that album. Even thought it was about the first manned trip to Mars, it was hard to tell that in the lyrics, didn't hold up to good as a concept album. I thought DDY's Vol1 last year was a far better release. Only thing about DDY's album, I was hoping for a couple of songs sung by "his Tommy and JY"...oh well.

I too wondered if Dennis would have August sing a song on Vol. II He sang lead on some songs for his group Waiting For Monday who did an album for Frontiers. I think it came out about the same time as Volume I. The actual lead singer in that band is not August.

Since Dennis’s albums are solo projects and not an actual group per se is probably the reason he sings everything. Other than 2 duets Dennis has sung everything on his solo albums. I’m not sure if Frontiers wants any other singer other than Dennis on his albums. I’m guessing they don’t.

Other then singing Miss America I don’t believe Jimmy Leahey has ever been a lead singer. Also Jimmy was in Dennis’s band 4 years before August. He first met Jimmy on his orchestral tour in 2004 when Jimmy played acoustic guitar for special guest John Waite.
Because of the pandemic Dennis has said that his guitarists were less involved than he would have liked although August mentioned that he is singing harmony with Dennis on most of Volume II.
I am anxious to hear it. Plus your assessments here seem very fair minded. Stay safe.

He's on Facebook posting in all the music groups often. I think the last time I saw him was about 2 years ago at a concert.

I'm still in contact with a lot of the people that use to post on here, either in person or on Facebook. It's great that most of us became friends mainly because of the music of Dennis DeYoung. Most of us met at the DDY concerts over the years, either in the Midwest or east coast concerts.

Good to hear about Froy. Rumors on the internet is that he was arrested by the Majority for Musical Morality.

I for one would of LOVED to have read some quotes from Froy when “current Styx” started playing Roboto in concerts. Great Great reads I’m sure!

Good one! I know he has a bunch of audio from old Styx concerts that he was going to download. I was hoping he would have posted more over the years. I found this one from 1983. It's just audio, I wish there was video too.

He has been quite vocal on Facebook on the various Styx groups and pages. I thinks he been banned on the main current Styx Facebook page.

Oh, please. Back in the early 90's, he was selling such things for around $50/cd or $75/VHS. He kept doing this until Journey got on his ass and FORCED him to stop.

A group of us got together and each of us bought most of his Journey CD's. Instead of trying to make money off some of this rarer stuff, we shared. That is why you can find Journey "rarities", demos and even unreleased songs in very good quality...because we made them public. Froy said he did not do this because it cost him money to get the recordings. So, giving it all away for free and being generous to the fandom out there is not part of his character.

It will be interesting to hear the 2 new songs on Stardust and see how they would have fit into COTC.
