Grand Illusion Poster

Today I was looking at the poster that came with the Grand Illusion album and it hit me in a way it hasn't for a long time. I won't go into details as to some of the interesting emotions I was going through about it all, but it got me wondering something that we have sort of touched base of before.
If Tommy left Styx and/or JY was the only "past" or "way back" member left, would it be 'Styx' or would we follow them? We know that JY is really the only original member left, but I just wonder sometimes if Tommy or Dennis needs to be in the band to make it them. Many accept someone else singing Dennis' songs even though Dennis only sings his own Styx songs at his shows. Granted too that it was Dennis and Tommy that sang basically all the songs, at least early on the good ones in my opinion. I just wander how it would be it someone else was singing Tommy's songs if he was gone. What will it take for the majority to agree that this group 'ain't' Styx at all anymore. I need at least Dennis or Tommy in the band I believe to hold my attention.
The whole thing is still just sad at times when I go way back and think.......

Back in 1991 I saw Styx's Edge Of The Century Tour in Minneapolis. It was a GREAT show!!! Glen sung Blue Collar Man, Renegade, Too Much Time On My Hands, and Snowblind. Awesome show and I am sooo glad I got to see him perform these Tommy Shaw/Styx classics, and I was even happier that there was a GREAT STYX concert that night.

I saw that tour as well
It was great except for Burnicks awefull versions of Shaws songs.
He was booed big time in Milwaukee.

Froy, I was at that show in Milwaukee (1991) and I remember a lot of people yelling "where's Tommy".

I was also at the show in the corn field July, 1999, when Larry was booed. I felt bad for him, but no one at that time knew what was going on with the band. The radio advertisements never announced a replacement, they still had Dennis singing the songs. When Journey toured without Perry, they played the advertisements announcing that Steve A. was touring.
