JY Interview #2

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Wed Mar 31, 2004 12:51 am

Here's another one just for you "guys".

http://www.jamesyoung.ws/intviews/agcchat.htm

I'll have to highlight this question since we're always talking about it:

Moderator] cashiosux: Is it money or love of music that keeps you going at this time?

[JYYoung] It's really the joy of being on stage that is my highest priority. The fact that we might be economically rewarded in a nice way is really a secondary thing for me. Seeing the smiles on peoples faces. I used to feel the job of being a legend in rock was very self-serving and had no value to society. I think the opposite now. People have struggles in just getting by day-to-day. By playing live concerts, we provide a moment in time where people can come in, forget all their troubles and celebrate the good parts of human existence. If you focus on the negative all the time, you start believing it. We think there is great hope in human existence and great joy. That's kind of my purpose - mass psychotherapy.

Isn't J.Y the one they call "Dr. Righteous" ???

I bet none of you realized you were the patient and getting discounted priced therapy at your last Styx concert, did you ?

On the other hand with what a ticket costs these days, maybe it wasnt so discounted ? .......

"Doctor" Righteous ....physician, heal thyself ????

Thanks, Suite. It is a picture of CLASSIC Styx. See? There's a guitar player in the background, behind the lead singer/frontman.

I don't care WHAT JY :P has to say about Dennis... The truth is that Dennis will one day go to his grave never having danced around a stage like AN IDIOT singing as Dr. R..... End of story and have a nice day.

And JY will go to his grave never having recorded a horrible song to go along with his wife/manager's (what a joke) book and shamelessly plugging the book at his concert!!!!! And then telling his fans (that would be the 7 or 8 people on this board who praise his crap) that the only way to get his new horrible song is buy his wife's horrible book!!! .......End of story and YOU have a nice day!!

Oh there you are ChicagoStyx, I knew you'd be back

I take it you read her book, I'd never guess that you'd be reading a romance book, I'm shocked

I give her a LOT of credit for writing a book. You may or may not like it, but it's something she wanted to do. Is there something you really wanted to do in your life and didn't accomplish yet? Life is too short.

As for his song "A Love Foretold", I personally like it a lot. That's just my opinion and it didn't bother me that it was included with her book. Double bonus for me

Yes, there are about 7 or 8 Dennis fans that post on this board, but I know for a fact there are a lot more that don't post, they lurk. I'm sure there are a lot of Carrot Styx fans too that don't post and just lurk.

Chicagostyx must be JY's wife.
I am not much of a Dennis fan either. I actually emailed Dennis and said that I loved his show but why was he singing all of the Gowan songs. He emailed back and was NOT amused. 8) Oh well.
Ya'll have a great EVENING.

Hey There Newbie,
Let me get this straight, in the past few days you have told us you leant Tommy Shaw 20 dollars and Dennis Deyoung recently sent you an E-mail responding to some dumb ass E- mail that you had sent him.

What was the name of the remake of that song Styx performed on Man Of Miracles called?????????????????????????????? It was a remake Styx did and I liked the song. Damn I just cant remember it... It was the song that was dropped off the Man Of Miracles Album when Styx went to the RCA cartoon cover and changed the title of the Album to just Miracles. The song was replaced by the song 'Unfinished Song. What the hell was the name of that song???????? I remember NOW..... The song was titled LIES!!!!!!

yeah Yogi... I'm with you. From what I understand (and this isn't a slam) but Dennis is not the most computer savvy person on the planet and I doubt that he's emailed many people much less some fan about singing gowan songs (which makes no sense to me anyway).

Well... I didn't really lend Tommy 20 bucks BUT Dennis or someone claiming to be Dennis did send an email telling me that I was not funny. And that is the truth. That is my story and I am sticking to it. 8)

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but both Dennis and JY do not "surf" the internet. They both don't care for the internet and what's being said on it. Sorry I can't give you the exact quote, but I do know this for a fact

Truth is I really don't care if it is from him or not but it does say so and it is a reply sent to his site.
