I CANT GRASP

Postby yogi » Sat May 15, 2004 4:51 am

This board is GREAT!! In the past few months I have received numerous burned CD's form people I have met here. I have REALLY enjoyed the ones I have listened to so far. Thankyou!!!

One of the CD's I received had some very rare Styx/DDY recordings I had never heard or didnt even know existed. The one I keep going back to on my drive to work is the Show Me The Way Gulf War Version. I had never heard it before. While I always liked the song. This version TRULY gives it a new meaning. Its almost painful to hear it 13 years after the first war.

We sit here and argue about the DUMBEST things, while at the same exact time thousands of our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters are on foreign soil fighting and dying for.............Peace ?.

Watching the news these past few weeks I cant figure anything out. Two Styx quotes do ring true for me. 'The problems plain to see, to much tecnology', and, 'The more that I learn, the less that I know'.

I am going to make a show. In the WHOLE GRAND SCHEME of things who gives a rats ass which one it is???????????????????

You said it yogi. FOR ME, I enjoy coming here and reading everyone's take/opionios on everything until things start to get mean and personal. As I have said many times, there are a lot more important things going on right now.
I come here for info and to see what everyone is thinking. Funny, I come here when I need a break. Believe that or not! :P
It's when people say stupid, mean or unaccontable things that I shake my head and need to say my 'peace.'
I have a sister, brother and a friend in the service. My dad, uncle and two friends also served. That version of Show Me The Way Is Great.
This board is fantastic until someone decides to go off on someone, be it one of us or a band member.
Like I said, for me it's a break to come here. I truly get a kick out of it. I don't think of it always as argueing, until someone gets stupid, it's more so people being very strong headed about a band and it's member, past and present, that have meant something to them.
Show Me The Way-Dennis really hit the nail on the head with that one.
You are right about the cd trading. What is SO cool about this board is that we can trade things with those we disagree with otherwise. That's all it should be thought of too. We just agree to see things differently.
And, I say this again. Let's continue to be cool around here to each other because there are not many boards you can go to where it's allowed anymore to debate both sides.
Peace..

I agree. Sometimes I'm guilty as anyone else as I'm an emotional person with feelings as I think we all are.

I've decided to simply stop replying to those who seek to come and cause trouble. Sometimes it seems to me as if there are some who visit just to cause trouble. I mean we're all welcome to our opinion... but at this stage I think it's all academic.

You know what would be cool? If Dennis *AND* Steve co-wrote an album together and went out on tour.

that would be a hoot.

That's been suggested several times before about Dennis and Steve Perry.

And you're right. In the grand scheme of things, the preferences of which lineup you prefer is silly. I think for the most part, the people here are genuinely decent and pretty funny.

And with that, I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Dennis himself in a short interview a few weeks ago. He was asked if there were any classic bands he'd like to tour with. He said he wouldn't mind tour with Steve Perry...they could call it "the two guys who used to be in those bands" tour.

But, it will never happen. Steve Perry will never tour again.

frankly - an album with songwriting collaborations between Perry and DeYoung could be kinda interesting.

Some other possible co-writers I could see Dennis possibly gelling with:

Kevin Cronin (unlikely I know, but still)
Tony Carey
Steve Walsh
Kerry Livgren
Jack Russell (Great White)
Don Henley

I enjoy coming here because there aren't a whole lot of people in my immediate surroundings who like to talk about Styx to the extent that I like to. I have my views and like to elaborate on them just like everyone else here, but Sadie's right about where all this fits into the grand scheme of things. But in light of all that's serious that goes on in the world, it's nice to have this diversion to keep me sane! Thanks everyone!
