Yogi,

Isn't this a bit like asking weather Pizza is better than Chocolate ?
Weather Blondes are better than Brunettes ?
Weather Coke is better than Pepsi ?

I think all 6 of these guys are extremely talented......Of course I think the Wooden Nickel era is underrated. John P was not as flashy of a drummer as Todd, but he and Chuck were a very good rythem section in their time.

Oh and by the way, for me, I'll take Pizza, Blondes and Coke !

Todd beats out John P. hands down. The guy is a session drummer and can play rings around most drummers

The others are a tough call.

I think Curlewski had a bigger influence on the band during the Wooden Nickel years. But JY stuck it out and penned a couple of good songs.

I have to give the nod to Tommy over Glen. But it is close. They both are great musicians and singers. They both have written great songs. But Tommy has more hits I think. They are both great entertainers. But Tommy has become the backbone of STYX.

You'll have to forgive me, I'm just getting started on message boards!! :D

Personally, as a drummer (cue the jokes) I prefer Todd's drumming. Although, Johnny P. was a very talented musician.

Also, I'll take Tommy over Glen, though I usually enjoy Glen's songs. But, on the JY vs. JC debate, tough call.

Well, welcome to the jungle, Jaybird! :)

Actually we all tweak each other here a lot but we always have fun doing it. Read through some of the past threads (or Assembly Lines as Yogi calls them). You will see.

As to the topic of THIS assembly line. I think Pepsi is better than Tommy and Coke is better than Glen.
And pizza beats Todd hands down.
But chocolate is better than them all.

Thanks for the welcomes.
I've actually been a "lurker" for about 2 years now, and just decided to jump into the fray, if you will.

And while we're at it, pizza only beats Todd if its Pizza Hut pizza!!

Welcome Jaybird.

I have to say, I prefer brunettes, coke, and chocolate.

And hailing from Chicago, I definitely have to disagree...Pizza Hut pizza is not pizza. LOL

Enjoy and peace,

Pizza Hut is NOT real pizza. I'm sorry any pizza that is thrown onto a conveyer belt is not a real pizza. Hell, at least I slide my own frozen Tombstone pizza into an oven and check on it every so often. Pizza Hut barffffffff..... Now for some solid advice. Save your money and head to Minnesota why?????? because...........

Carbones Pizza located on the corner of Randolf and Davern in St Paul Minnesota will be the BEST pizza you have ever tasted. Once you have tasted a Carbones pizza ( West St. Paul location) not quite as good, this will be the measuring stick for all other pizzas. Maybe all other foods in general. Their pizza is that good!!!! There isnt a steak, chocolate, ice cream, whatever that can measure up to that taste. Maybe the South China Duck from this little resturant in Natchitoches Louisiana....... naw, a Carbones pizza is a little bit better!!

OK, you all are making me very HUNGRY here. We are pretty pizza deprived in my part of Texas I will have to say.

HOWEVER...

Sadie is right. That Chicago deep dish pizza is to DIE for!

HOWEVER...

I had some pizza at a little walk-in place in New York, right off Broadway, that was unbelievable!!!

Now, to cry over the fact that I cannot have any pizza tonight.

Gotta go with Sadie on this one. In my neck of the woods, we don't have much choice either. But we do have the trademark "local Italian restaurant" which is actually owned and operated by Italians!! But, since I haven't traveled west much yet (key word, yet) I figured everyone could relate to Pizza Hut.

I've always wanted to go to Chicago though!!

Well, if nothing else, this thread brought some pizza addicts to life! Thanks, Yogi! Now what was your question again??

Sy -- I have no idea the name of the place we went. We were hungry and walked in. It was a very small, lunch type place with Italian sandwiches and pizza. It was just good stuff. Real authentic, yaknowwhatI'sayin'???

I remember Dennis guest hosting an MTV spot ions ago and they had a vote on who had better pizza...New York or Chicago...well which is it?

I use to like Mama Rose's in New Orleans (voted by people magazine during the 90's) as one of the top ten...however it has slipped in the last few years...

Pizza is definately proof of god (good pizza)...and I agree Yogi, pizza hut (and most chains) suckkkkkkkkkkkk

First, welcome Jaybird to this crazy board - LOL It's fun here :) Hope you post a lot on here.

Good topic, but it's hard to say who is better than who. Everyone has a different taste in music and musicians, so it's just everyone's opinion.

I wouldn't say people on here "hate" JY. That's a pretty strong word to use. I think a few of us can't stand him mainly because of what he has said, especially everything against Dennis. JY just needs to grow up and talk more positive, it makes him look bad. If JC was still here today, I'd pick JC over JY with his guitar playing and singing, again my opinion.

I personally think Todd is a better drummer, comparing to John P. Both are excellent in my book.

I'd pick Tommy over Glen, because I like the classic line-up. I like Tommy's singing with Styx and Glen solo.

As for the others: I love brunettes (men-LOL), Coke and CHOCOLATE

Since my husband and I are experts in Pizza tasting (just kidding) the best pizza places that I ate were:

Toronto - Terroni on Queen's Street, I think that was the name

West Allis/Brookfield/Wales, WI - Mama Mia's - the Garlic Bread is the best ever

Wisconsin Rapids, Central WI - Portesi Fine Foods, the best

Those are my favorites. We have a Papa Murphy's owner in our neighborhood, so I like to support his business :)

I don't know the name of the pizza place that we ate at in Chicago (help), it was pretty good pizza.

My point on the Tommy & John C. comparison was that Tommy replaced John C. Just like Glen/Tommy, Dennis/Gown, and John P/Todd.
