I have been thinking about this all day
You may have a point Dennis / Styx may never recover from what has happened
It would take to much energy and luck to regain what once was.
Only U2 has been able to keep it going no other act has done what they have done . The Styx/ Dennis game may be over forever/

Don't you see that the same would be true if Dennis stayed in the band or not, or if Perry had stayed in Journey or not? It would be like some popular band from the 50's reuniting and regaining their popularity in 1980. It just doesn't happen. The culture has changed. Popular music has changed.
We're older and a bit out of touch with "pop" culture. Get used to it...What was popular 20+yrs ago simply is not going to come back to life today and have the same level of popularity.
Styx, Journey and some other bands, have been living off of a bit of nostalgia from a generation who has grown up...and a new album here and there for their core fans. They can pay the bills by doing that...but, they will never - ever - have the same popularity as they did at their peak...no matter who is in the band, or not in the band. 16yr old kids are not going to rush out and buy CDs by these bands...as they did 20yrs ago.
