After you listen to Goodnight my love, have a listen to the Badfinger songs Day After Day and Come and Get it.

The influince is obvious ( at least to me )

I wish that "Pieces of Eight" was done with the orchestra when he was recording the cd. It's a GREAT song with the orchestra!!!

I've downloaded Desert Moon, Come Sail Away, and Castle Walls (all courtesy of Pepsi bottlecaps). I'm not a big fan of Babe, Show Me The Way, Mr. Roboto, or Suite Madame Blue (no offense, I know many Styx fans like that one) and I think I can live without the other Styx tracks for awhile, so . . . . I'm debating whether to go with Hello God or My God Can Beat Up Your God. Suggestions???

On a related note, I've downloaded the Jack Blades solo CD, a little bit at a time. Not bad, but quite different from what I expected. Might take a while for this one to grow on me. Only 2 or 3 tracks really stand out after one listen.

Well, without any solid suggestions, I plodded forward and went with MGCBUYG. Not too bad of a song. It's definitely the best first impression I've gotten from a Dennis song since Desert Moon. It even sounds a bit like Renegade at times, IMO.

Also downloaded Suite Madame Blue (thanks Suite!), but haven't checked it out yet (got My God going on repeat

Sorry I was gone when you posted it. My God...rock or Broadway in your opinion. SMB is wonderful. Black Wall and Castle Walls are great with orchestra.

I found it more Beatlesque actually.

that makes sense.....Badfinger was heavily influinced by the Beatles...Paul McCartney wrote Come and Get it for them.....His demo version of the song is on Beatles Anthology Disc #3 I Believe.......

George Harrison played on and produced another of their songs that was a hit, cant remember which one at the moment....much of their work was recorded at Abbey Road studios.

[/u]No Matter What was produced by Mal Evans...other tracks on Best of Badfinger were produced by Todd Rundgren, Geoff Emerick and Tony Visconti, so they had some heavy hitters working with them !

oh, and in addition to Writing Come and Get it, Sir Paul arranged
and produced the track for them !

Badfinger were backup musicians on Harrison's All things must pass and backed him up at the Concert for Bangla Desh

some of the members backed up Ringo on his hit it don't come easy

and finally, some members of Badfinger played on John Lennon's Imagine

Classic. Thanks for all the underlining and all, LOL! I had forgotten that Badfinger members backed up George Harrison on "All Things Must Pass."

I immediately thought Beatles when I heard "Goodnight My Love." The vocal harmonies are done by Hank Horton.

Isn't this just a wonderful CD? I love Castle Walls with the orchestra & choir! And from the 3 new songs, I have a hard time picking my favorite; "My God..." really rocks, "Hello God" is beautiful, and "Goodnight..." just speaks to my heart in such a personal way.

Have you been lucky enough to catch this show live?

No, haven't seen the show... he came to Pittsburgh but I didn't hear about it until late and all the good seats were gone and I don't go to shows unless I can get good seats... otherwise I just pick up the DVD.

There are way too many good songs on this disc to pick a favorite... although I do love when the orchestra is playin the beginning of Lorelei and then it kicks in... awesome!

Roboto is awesome too... when those robot voices kick in at the beginning it gives me chills.

Have you seen the "Soundstage" DVD, then? It's not a full concert, but at least it gives you a taste of the full show. Awesome!

As for Soundstage, I think it's only re-released in Canada, "Suite Madame Blue" was added. Sadie, do you remember the details?

I believe it will be re-released only in Canada with additional songs being SMB and uncut SMTW.

While I did enjoy Soundstage very much, I think it honestly pales to seeing his show live. Though, I do recommend getting it.

I gotta say I've been listening to this for the past 3 weeks A LOT and I absolutely LOVE this Symphony Disc.

I will even go so far as to say I think this is the BEST symphony collaborative disc put out by a major act.

I've heard several... Kiss, Scorpions, Metallica, Aerosmith... etc...

This is THE BEST... bar none.
