Todd –

Love your drumming and love Styx since I was a little girl when I bought a little album called the Grand llusion. Question for you, I thought it was really cool that Journey just got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. How can we get one for Styx? If they got one, Styx should get one too. I also thought it was cool that all members of the band came to the ceremony - including Steve Perry. Despite all their disagreements, they were able to patch things up for a day which was really cool. My question to you is if Styx got a star on the walk of fame or were inducted into the rock hall of fame, do you think the members could put past animosity behind them and have all members attend? Obviously, I am really talking about whether Dennis DeYoung would be invited to such a ceremony. It would really be cool - especially for the fans. Isn't it weird how eerily similar the Steve Perry - Journey situation is to the Dennis DeYoung - Styx situation? It got me thinking that if Journey could bury the hatchet for a day or two, why couldn't Styx bury the hatchet for something that celebrates their entire contribution to music? Anyway, I would love to see Styx get their due both in Hollywood and Cleveland.

All the best,
Ann R.
P.S. How do you all determine what song(s) get released as singles off albums. Like I thought "One WIth Everything" and "Kiss Your Ass Goodbye" would have made great singles off Cyclorama, yet they were never released!! Is that the record company's decision?

Hi Ann,

You sure like the political stuff, don't you? Perhaps your questions would be better directed towards Tommy or JY...or Chuck. I don't want to sound callus, but I really don't care for the politics and I don't care about stars or awards. I care about music and art. Many of my heroes died paupers and under appreciated. Many artists that touch my soul deeply who are alive right now will never be in the R&R Hall Of Fame or have star ceremonies. I honestly pay it no mind whatsoever. I suppose if anything of that kind happened to Styx, it wouldn't be up to us to invite Dennis, now would it? It would be up to the organizers of the event. See.....more politics.
And there's even more politics when it comes to choosing singles. A MILLION variables. And it's different every time. Everyone has an opinion. I can't give you any more of a satisfying answer than that. Sorry.
I very much appreciate your support and interest in the band---and I hope you continue to come see us and have a great time. It's music, it's fun, it's powerful, it's life enhancing. I keep it at that! Take care, Ann

I've always respected Todd's abilities behind his kit.....after reading this, I respect him as a person as well.......

If the drumming thing doesn't work out, perhaps he should consider a career in Politics ?

LOL....Todd plays with other artists besides Styx. He did most of Brian Wilson's Smile and he did most of Josh Cole's cd (Jazz)....Don't know quite how he finds the time, but Todd's da man and very diverse.
