Almost these exact same argument can be made against Journey/Steve Perry.

Kicked out of the band due to medical reasons.
Neal CONSTANTLY complained about ballads and "rocking".
They have sold Journey: wine, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, soap, incense, etc...just like Styx.
The only point that you can make is since TBF, they have had a few albums of new music....but their live shows are almost always the same hit songs....otherwise, it's pretty much THE EXACT SAME SITUATION.

Then they make a very good portion of their $$$$ off the back of the guy that they booted because they said he no longer created the music that they liked and wanted to play.

They are STYX songs, not DDY solo songs. They are not out there performing Dessert Moon. And, Dennis is doing the EXACT SAME THING by having JY and Tommy clones in his band performing their Styx songs. It's a huge bunch of bullshit that really matters significantly to MAYBE a few dozen people on the internet.

The members of Def Leppard did keep their drummer around and waited to record and tour while he recovered from a horrific car wreck where he lost a limb.

So what. What has AC/DC done with Brian? That's more of the norm than the exception.

We all KNOW that Dennis was on the edge of losing his spot in Styx back in the early 80's. We all KNOW all of the complaints about his time during Kilroy. We all KNOW this band wanted to tour and work and make money. So, acting all surprised that they kicked Dennis out when he couldn't deliver is pretty ridiculous......especially continuing it 15yrs later.

Produce a new album for your fans( every decade or so) and maybe some of us wont feel this way about credit cards, jewelry, coffee and dog bowls

I doubt Styx cares what a few vocal fans say on the internet when hundred of thousands go see them in concert every year - and they obviously don't give a damn about anything you are saying. Those people don't care what is sold as swag....they probably buy it. They will record and release music on their timeline, not yours....if they release any at all.

EVERYTHING that you just said Monk is 100% correct.

That is why they are no longer artists( because artists create). They are pure and simple a lounge act.A very very good lounge act but a lounge act nonetheless. They are in it for the masses and not their true fans. They are in it for the $$$$ and not for the music anymore.

Is there anything wrong with that? Hell no there isnt. But did Tommy and the gang lose a COMPLETE and TOTAL diehard fan in me? ABSOLUTELY. Do they care? Hell no? Should they care? Again the answer is no.

At final count I saw them with DDY on their first headline tour In St Paul (Grand Illusion), at The Minnesota State Fair ( Main Event), 3 Times Their Paradise Theater Tour ( Reunion Arena & twice at The Met Sports Center) 3 Times Kilroy - Texas Jam( cotton Bowl), In Shreveport La, and in Minneapolis. Their Edge Tour minus Tommy in Minneapolis. Tommy Shaw twice at The St Paul Winter Carnival( both shows same night) Girls with Guns tour. Their Grand Illusion 1997 reunion Tour. Their Brave New world Tour solo twice, Three times with REO, once with Frampton Nelson & Bad Company, Once with both REO & Journey, Once solo at Sea World in San Antonio, DDY solo with orchestra in Dallas and once solo in Wisconsin( thanks Suite).

I never once had a problem with them parting ways with DDY. But most of the reasons that they publicly stated for axing Dennis is the exact same thing that they as a band are doing now.

Im a Styx fan PERIOD, But not much anymore.

Artists create. These guys no longer create anything (musically). Then they make a very good portion of their $$$$ off the back of the guy that they booted because they said he no longer created the music that they liked and wanted to play. How on earth does this band have balls big enough to peddle a credit card with Roboto/Kilroy on it is beyond my comprehension. 'I honestly just couldnt think of any songs about robots'TS- He can sure think of em now about corn bread, vittles and plowing maws field. UNREAL

what the hell does booting a former a founding member have to do with you guys bitching about the crazy crap they sell? nothing as far as I can tell. some of you argue like my mother......you bitch about something and when somebody makes a valid counter point then you change the foundation of your argument.....lol.....it is literally hilarious.

and just so you know yes, most of them did boot founding members.......mick jones laid the axe to most of his band at their height of their popularity. iron maiden lost their original singer. steven tyler drove joey kramer to the loony bin although kramer wouldnt quit. and my god, let's not get started to all the various in and out scenarios that kiss has encountered with their various members. so that point is completely pointless as well. that shit happens all the time to almost all bands, with very very few exceptions.

once again, not that it has anything to do with you guys bitching about styx coffee etc...

now let's move on to creating new albums for your fans because that's what artists do, they "create" according to you;

DDY, AKA-god allmighty- has released how many albums in the last 20 years? I can think of 1....maybe I'm missing 4 or 5.....can you list them for me?

foreigner- 1 album of new music in the last two plus decades.

journey- 2 albums of new music in 15 years or so.

styx- 1 album of new music in the last 15 years or so.

kansas- 1 album of new music in the last 15 years or so

kiss- 1 or 2 albums of new music in the last 15 years or so.

reo- 1 or 2 albums of new music in the last 15 years or so

rush- 2 or 3 albums of new music in the last 15 years or so....they are by far more productive than most older rockers.

boston- 4-5 albums in the last 40 years.....lol

van halen-1 album of new music in 10 years plus.

shall I go on? point is that that acting like styx is doing something different than any of the other bands that had similar hey days at similar times is complete utter nonsense......especially when the beloved DDY himself produces no more new music than styx does.

but once again, for me, none of it has anything to do with your original argument mom 8)

Again You are 100% correct also.

But does your mother argument change the way I view what used to be my favorite band?? Hell no.

Ive literally passed on seeing them a dozen times( once even on a cruise) because they wont create anymore.

I would have loved to see their Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight Tour. Even though nothing was new the concept was AWESOME. What do they do? They play it like 10 times and make HUGE $$$$ off the CD & DVD ( which I do purchase)

Put some new shi t out on the internet ANYTHING but create something new. Thats all I want.

You are CORRECT, Monk is CORRECT, Styx is rich beyond anyones wildest estimations( they even have their OWN credit cards to prove it). But for me they are Marion singing at the bar on a Thursday night in St Paul. Let the Hamms beer flow. Sing Me a Song Piano Man

Just a correction that Journey has had more than two albums of new music since Perry "left" after TBF:

Arrival
Red 13 (EP)
Generations
Revelation
Eclipse
