TS, while this founding member was sick? - Then they have not produced a new album in well over a decade while making a ton of money off the sick guy that they booted. Along the way while not making any new music they peddled coffee beans, pet items, jewelry, credit cards, solo polka music etc...
Almost these exact same argument can be made against Journey/Steve Perry.
Kicked out of the band due to medical reasons.
Neal CONSTANTLY complained about ballads and "rocking".
They have sold Journey: wine, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, soap, incense, etc...just like Styx.
The only point that you can make is since TBF, they have had a few albums of new music....but their live shows are almost always the same hit songs....otherwise, it's pretty much THE EXACT SAME SITUATION.
Then they make a very good portion of their $$$$ off the back of the guy that they booted because they said he no longer created the music that they liked and wanted to play.
They are STYX songs, not DDY solo songs. They are not out there performing Dessert Moon. And, Dennis is doing the EXACT SAME THING by having JY and Tommy clones in his band performing their Styx songs. It's a huge bunch of bullshit that really matters significantly to MAYBE a few dozen people on the internet.
The members of Def Leppard did keep their drummer around and waited to record and tour while he recovered from a horrific car wreck where he lost a limb.
So what. What has AC/DC done with Brian? That's more of the norm than the exception.
We all KNOW that Dennis was on the edge of losing his spot in Styx back in the early 80's. We all KNOW all of the complaints about his time during Kilroy. We all KNOW this band wanted to tour and work and make money. So, acting all surprised that they kicked Dennis out when he couldn't deliver is pretty ridiculous......especially continuing it 15yrs later.
Produce a new album for your fans( every decade or so) and maybe some of us wont feel this way about credit cards, jewelry, coffee and dog bowls
I doubt Styx cares what a few vocal fans say on the internet when hundred of thousands go see them in concert every year - and they obviously don't give a damn about anything you are saying. Those people don't care what is sold as swag....they probably buy it. They will record and release music on their timeline, not yours....if they release any at all.
