I know for a fact that various radio stations around the US, not just the Chicago area, gave away tickets to their listeners. I know for a fact that one station had 100 tickets to give away.
Adam wrote:I suggest you consider how many tickets have been sold by current STYX in the past 5 years and divide that by 100.
You still won't have the TOTAL of DeYoung tickets sold in the same time frame.
I'm not putting anyone down, I'm merely pointing out the differences between DeYoung's method and Shaw's.
One has nothing to do with the other in the context of this thread. Neither side will fill venues like they once did. That both are still touring and providing their fans with entertainment is more important at this point.

Adam wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again (at the risk of being redundant and boring), the "status" of the size of a venue has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the quality of the music - and ESPECIALLY should not be an issue on something like a STYX BULLETIN BOARD. Styx passed their mass appeal glory days years ago.
Brittney Spears and 50 Cent currently dominate. I don't suspect anyone checking in this board would consider them to be favorites, or even all that special.
Yet, Froy insists on using the attendence/size of venue argument as proof of something. I only mean to point out the holes in such a silly philosophy. My belief is that it's definitely MUCH BETTER to experience a great performance in an intimate venue, that "arena rock" is an outdated experience (not to mention financially a rip-off), and that both Styx and DeYoung are presently very worthwhile shows to Styx fans of old.
Missing 'the old days' is for losers.
The bottom line is that Styx for many years played in top notch venues in front of large crowds when they were a real band.
Now they are playing airports and a few thousand followers
If you want to glorify that more power to ya.

And Dennis is playing 500 seat venues.
Let's be real. Most acts diminish in popularity as time goes by. That's human nature, and it's worthy of acceptance, but it has nothing to do with the quality of their product.
I stand by it: both Styx AND DeYoung are presently offering excellent, professional shows every bit as good as when at the peak of their popularity.
It's not 1981 anymore.
In Mexico he's playing 12 thousand

Lets take a lookI like seeing Styx with just a 1000 people or even less .Nice and cozy and no bad seat in the house.(or train station)
I like seeing Styx with Dennis and 20 thousand other Die Hard Styx fans going crazy during the entire show, Nothing like hearing them all singing word for word.Again.I rather have the current Styx than no Styx.
You assume that current Styx would be the only Styx and that is where you are dead wrong. Dennis has said many times he would be in right now, Only JY and Shaw make it current Styx or no StyxAgain.I would prefer the old Styx, but that ain't ahappenin'.
Never say never and never give upAnd the Styx name is being dragged through the mudAgain.Dennis is doin' his thing and Styx theirs.
I DON "T LIKE IT>And there is nothing we can do about it.
Oh yes there is just don't buy a plane ticket
All the best , my friend.

The 500 seater in Milwaukee is because he wants it that way.Let's be real. Most acts diminish in popularity as time goes by. That's human nature, and it's worthy of acceptance, but it has nothing to do with the quality of their product.
I agree not saying the quality of the product is bad
Im saying if the quality of the product was great why would you be playing airports?
Makes no sense to me..I stand by it: both Styx AND DeYoung are presently offering excellent, professional shows every bit as good as when at the peak of their popularity.
Not even close only Dennis has held up that standard
Heck he has an Orchestra and great guest singers Mike Eldred ect
Current Styx does not come close to what former Styx has done
Not even close. Why do you insist on believing this?
They are playing airports Adam airports Come On Man.
