I guess your right about Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.

I still say Paul McCartney had equal or more success outside of the Beatles!!! Does he even own any of the Beatles songs anymore or does Psycho Jacko own all of them?

I'm in a lot of disagreements with Froy on the board right now, I just didn't post them all - LOL I can't be that mean all the time. :wink:

Oh, and PS, Froy is right on this one....MAYBE if you combine Elvis and Paul's careers together, you could approach the level of success the Beatles achieved..... Sales numbers were posted here a few months back that prove it. And they did it in only 8 years together ! Paul has had a 35 year career after the Beatles.

I bet Paul would even tell you so.....even today people go to see him en masse to hear him do Beatles songs, and put up with the rest because they have to !

Yep, the best of any beetle, but he didn't achieve selling 170 million albums on his own or with the Wings, so he didn't achieve equal success (assuming success is defined by albums sold and not some subjective opinion).
And... Paul Simon hasn't sold over 40 million albums either.

but clapton, jackson, collins, ozzy, rondstadt, and stewart have achieved equal or greater success than the bands' they first started in.

this thread really wasn't supposed to be about bean counting album sales. It was supposed to be subjective and within the spirit of the original post...

With that said, I am glad we're finally having some fun around here with the several threads that have been running over the last week or so - specificly Styx related or not.

I agree nobody can touch the fab four, but keep in mind even if there had not been a beatles, Paul made one of the truly best albums ever in Band On the Run. Tug of War was a great underrated album, and of course he had a slew of hit singles: Live and Let Die, Uncle Albert, My Love, Silly Love Songs, Say Say Say (well maybe forget that one), With a little luck, Another Day, Jet, Band on the Run, Listen to what the man said, Junior's Farm....

Actually it's a little bit more than counting album sales...Yes, I added (IMO) to my post, but album sales count as a legitimate point when it comes to comparing Paul McCartney to the Beatles...Some more points are #1 hit singles, hit singles in general, Hit Albums, and over catalog...
